MercyMe Bus Accident Kills Two In Crash (Photos)
Gospel Group MercyMe’s tour bus, which was leaving Parkview Field in Fort Wayne, Indiana for their next concert in St. Louis, Missouri, was involved in a fatal car crash early on Saturday (August 8th).
Fort Wayne police Officer Liza Thomas said witnesses told police the bus was going through a green light about 1:15 a.m. Saturday when the car made a left turn in front of it. The band from the Dallas area had been in Fort Wayne for a Friday night show at Parkview Field.
Unfortunately, the two passengers in the car, a male and a female, were pronounced dead, but the pregnant female by the name of Kara Klinker, who was driving, was hospitalized in critical condition.
The Christian band members were reportedly on the bus, witnessed the collision and promptly used their Twitters to ask fans for prayers. Bart Millard tweeted, “Car just hit our tour bus. We are ok, but 2 of the 3 in the car did not make it. The one that did is pregnant. Please start praying;” and a few hours later added, “Can’t sleep. Officers left to notify families of their loss. My heart aches. Girl driving is 35 wks pregnant. Both are stable.”
