Disney star Miley Cyrus wowed and shocked with the performance of her new hit single “Party In The USA” at 2009 Teen Choice Awards held at the Gibson Amphitheatre on Sunday (August 9) in Universal City, California.
Miley, who is wearing some tight short shorts, strikes some very seductive poses and does a sensual pole dances on top of an ice cream cart (watch video below). Does anyone else think pole dancing is not appropriate for a sixteen year old!??!

ARE YOU SERIOUS? all you people are making the biggest deal of her standing on that icecream thing by a pole it didn’t even look sexual or sensual or whatever. it was just part of her choreography and everyones criticizing her and what not. i was listening to a talk show on the radio today and they made it sound like she was just swingin around that pole like a little whore and when i watched this video i was like wow, seriously? everyones making a big deal out of that? i mean if she were swingin around it and doin flips and crap on it then yeah i’d understand but that was nothing? and it doesn’t even look like a “stripper pole” (the talkshow also added that it looked like a stripper on a strippers pole). . and when she bent down on it like that it looks like she just did it to get closer to her fans. You people just will go nuts about every little thing she does its annoying let her live a little. And as for the outfit you don’t think all those teenagers dress like that? shes 16 stop treating her like she has to dress like a 5 year old! people are more worried about a little pop star being a teenager more than anything else important in this world my god.

wow she was not where near pole dancing…. when i hear that she pole dance at TCW i was like OMG i cant believe that she is only 16…. but when i watch the vido i was like is that what every is calling pole dancing wow….. i could not stop laughing when i watching because i could not believe everyone is getting work up over nothing at all! and for the tight short shorts what girl doesn’t wear short shorts…. im surprised yall did say anything about her bar hang out of her top “ohh no Miley Cyrus is showing way to much skin”… all i have to say is get over your self’s!!!

I think the main issue is that she’s looked up to by so many of our little girls in this country. I know my 8 year sister watches her show, saw the movies, and buys her products. Miley knows she’s a role model i agree that the pole dance wasn’t very sexual (sans the first few seconds with the dip down) but she has to know the impact she has on these little girls who want to be just like her. Already I see little girls trying to grow up to fast, wearing short shorts or skirts sporting Hannah Montana outfits, it’s sad. I put some blame on the parents who buy the clothing, but the blame also has to be put on the person putting the ideas of ‘appropriate’ fashion.
These performances are practiced before performed live, and her parents help with her shows right? How did they not catch the problem before hand? I feel we’ll get past this just like we did with the controversy with the photos. Miley’s going to be with us for a long time, she just needs to slow down and realize she doesn’t have to do this stuff, she’s already loved by the youth of this country.

I guess if you have been exposed to strippers and watch them pole dance naked, you wouldn’t think what she did or what she is wearing is scandalous. After all, it was only a semi-pole and she wasn’t showing her breasts or panties or anything like that. But come on, how is this kind of behaviour empowering women? How is it encouraging them at the the tender age of 12 or 13 that a woman’s worth isn’t in her shortest shorts or hip girations? Maybe people should be more critical of children (and yes a 16 year old is a child) dressing like a pussycat doll!
Lets encourage young girls to have REAL role models who don’t have to girate to get adoration and attention!

ok I really am getting sick of the whole miley thing these days and I’m a mom of 2 young girls.. that was NOT what I was thinking it would be. it was a pole on an ice cream cart that she pretty much had to hold on to so they could push her while she STOOD on it.. that wasn’t pole dancing… people are stupid..
tell that to yourself when you see your kids opening their legs that that on a damn pole sweetheart. Im a mom too and I don’t find this something to be proud of.
I personally don’t like Miley Cyrus’s music or her very public argument with Gaston over Twitter, but I must say, what several people call “pole-dancing” in this video is simply absurd. First off, the only part of her body that ever touched the pole was her right hand. Nothing more, nothing less. True, I see no reason to have it if that was all she was going to do with it, and I do think it was a tad provocative, but I’ve seen many worse case scenarios. Perhaps she was using the pole for some kind of support as well so she wouldn’t fall off the moving cart? I know I wouldn’t willingly start singing on top of a moving ice-cream cart without something to hold on to.
Her bra is technically clothing, is it not? Almost like a swimming suit top. Same applies for her shorts. Besides, it’s not like she was going to wear an outfit like that without one. In my opinion, it would have been far worse if she didn’t have one on at all and instead let everything flop out. While I don’t approve of it completely (or at all), it’s not terrible. No one would mind if all she had was a bathing suit on, correct? How is this any different?
As for the girls that idolize her, it is solely their parents’ fault for anything this could possibly imprint on them. Their parents should be teaching them right from okay from just plain wrong. They obviously haven’t done a good job as a parent if their kids can seriously try to copy this pop star. She is an icon aimed toward the younger generation, but people in general should have enough sense to see what style is most comfortable and appropriate for themselves.
My last primary topic focuses on her dance moves. She hardly even moves her hips as you can clearly see. If she was openly waving it out there, then yes, I would be concerned. This is not the issue however. She showed no signs of sexual movement, thus, you can only assume she has limits on how far she is willing to go.
Just throwing this last tidbit in: The only reason people feel such an urge to criticize her is because she’s famous. A celebrity. Paparazzi constantly follow her everywhere she goes and twist a number of things she does out of proportion. Why do we listen to them? Because we are seen as gullible fools who are more than likely going to buy almost everything they sell. It’s human nature - I’m not deliberately trying to offend someone. I absentmindedly do it myself. All I’m getting at is that we don’t have to listen to everything the media tells us. Remember to keep a decent, thoughtful head on your shoulders and you can decipher what is truth and what is false.

The dipping was her regular dancing. She was holding onto a pole to steady herself while the ice cream cart was moving, is that considered bad? I’m not a HUGE fan of Miley, but everyone is always looking for something to ruin her career, and things that could ‘ruin her career’ will probably pop up quite a bit because of her being a teenager. She has to make SOME mistakes so she can learn from them.

little kids (aka girls) watch the show Hanna Montana which is about a young Miley Stewart who is acted by Miley Cyrus. So…when they see and look up to the girl on hannah montana they’re gonna look up to the same girl on these teen shows. And you can’t stop your child from hearing, seeing, or reading about this celebrity Miley cyrus and her scandals like this one. My 10 year old sister looks up to “Hannah Montana” and is a little confused about if she’s Miley Cyrus or something cause she’s mentally handicapped. But i’m worried that she might be getting the wrong ideas when she sees this. So to all you miley lovers (no offense) i don’t blame u for liking her music its okay, but you can’t just right away defend Miley Cyrus when she does something like this JUST because you love her music. You have to look at all the size. Cause the truth is, Miley Cyrus (or should i say Destiny Hope) is probably a total different person than what she plays on stage or on t.v. So I aske you to try to look from all sides.

However I cant seem to understand where the childs parents are in all this, she is still 16 and is not out on her own yet, they are the ones who should be telling her that stuff like this is not acceptable due to the younger viewers that look up to her. Although we cant expect her to know any better, she was thrust into the spotlight at a very young age and never had a chance at a normal and peaceful childhood. most stars do start out young, some are ok with it and others end up like Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears.
