Holly Sweeney, who is just 16 years old and the girlfriend of professional Irish golfer, Rory McIlroy, is having a hard time learning how to deal with being in the spotlight but still wants to keep a low profile, staying in the background while her boyfriend shines.

Rory said, “Holly is quite shy. This is the first time she has been in the media spotlight and she has handled herself really well, but I think she doesn’t want to turn into a typical girlfriend of a sports person, so she likes to take a back seat.”

He added: “There is obviously a lot of attention now and we don’t want to turn into a typical Posh and Becks-type couple. We just want to lie under the radar.”

Rory is the youngest player to make the top 50. The 20 year-old was invited to U.S. Masters in April 2009, only 18 months after turning pro and his first professional win came when he won the Dubai Desert Classic on 1 February 2009, this win took him to 16th in the world rankings.
