Ashleigh Kenny RIP US Constitution T-Shirts (Photos, Video)
College student Ashleigh Kenny is causing controversy because of a t-shirt she designed and is selling that reads “R.I.P. The U.S. Constitution” on the front and Ronald Reagan is quoted on the back: “In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem.”
Ashleigh defends her t-shirt, saying “Our government is getting too big. How big can be debated, but the truth is, the government is bigger than the people. Therefore, the constitution is under attack. No matter which way you look at it, it is.”
In the photo above, Ashleigh posed with Congressman Jack Kingston at a healthcare town hall meeting in Valdosta on Monday, August 3. Kingston posted this picture on his official Flickr account and claims to be just helping to inspire a young activist.
The 21 year-old student believes her shirt can make a difference. “This is really to speak to my generation, give them a chance to voice. Throw on a t-shirt, walk around, and there you go. You got a message,” said Kenny.

I am a 62 year old woman and I want that shirt, and thank God for you young ones that can use your brains to think for your self and not have the government in your brain too.
Wow the rantings of a child deserve to be highlighted, must be a slow news day…. By the by the US Constitution was ravaged far worse by dumbya and the GOP. She really needs a history lesson.
Right on..Its about time…it only took about 8 years from someone to figure it out and design a “T” Shirt!!
Good for you Ashleigh.Unfortunatley many do not want to see where we may be headed….God Bless.
The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day, America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened.”
Norman Thomas, American socialist
Far worse? You’re an idiot. Pres. Bush and the Repubs are not much better, but taking over businesses, setting salaries, and plunging us into massive unsustainable debt? She is brilliant, and the shirt is a must have. Believe me, I am affiliated with neither party, but you have to be a grade A moron to disagree with the point she is making. I can tell you are a BO supporter though, because you follow the same pattern as him. When someone catches you on any point, blame Bush and all republicans. Idiot
I say BRAVA!!! WHat ever happened to that brilliant document that was the course in wich to follow for a Democracy?!!
To John: I love how you dismiss her point merely because she’s a college student. As a libertarian, I can say straight up that both parties are to blame equally (Yes, Bush signed the Patriot Act into law, but Truman was the only U.S. President to authorize the use of a nuclear weapon; Yes, Bush signed NCLB into law, but Carter established the Dept. of Education; Yes, Bush signed TARP into law, but Obama fired the GM CEO - and there are many other violations I could list by men of both parties); I think, if anything, you would need to take off your rose-colored glasses concerning the Democratic Party and reread History. Oh, and when you do, remind me which President went against the Supreme Court and caused what is now known as the Trail of Tears. And tell me which party he’s from, because I forget.
My case in point: look at the man, not the party.
For someone who calls themselves a doctor you appear to be less cogent that you should be. One, name one business that was taken over by the Fed Gvt. They were majority shareholders, not the same thing son, apparently business was not your forte in school, or did you miss that class.. I think you did. The debt we are in was inherited, and at least Obama had the integrity to keep the cost of the war on the books unlike the GOP who did not. Its called integrity son you should learn about it. As far as following patterns, its called history, you should learn about it rather than attempting to throw weak a** arguements that show how much of a product of public education you are. When you grow up maybe you can hold a political conversation with me. until then stick with being at the kiddie table, because your rationale needs work, your argument needs to be better formulated, and you need to be able to do so without resorting to name calling. It shows a lack of cogent thought, and a is a testament to your lack of understanding of the subject.
I can name at least two businesses that were taken over by the government. If you do indeed possess the profound knowledge that you are claiming, then I would think you would understand that being a majority shareholder means you pull the strings. Whom is dictating who gets their bonuses and salaries right now? If you can’t figure it out, it is the government. I will admit that I was not a business major(hence the title of Doctor), however, it doesn’t take Alan Greenspan to figure out that if the government gets involved, they have control.
Yes, deficit was inherited, but can’t you use your profound intellect to concede that it should be corrected instead of irresponsibly pushed beyond $1 trillion? There is your lesson on integrity…guess I knew more about it than you thought I did.
In case your reading glasses were out of reach, I will reiterate that I never once defended the Republicans, they are just as guilty for the mess.
I love how people like you talk down to others about name calling when in your original post you used the hilarious name “dumbya”, so I guess you are just as guilty of a lack of cogent thought.
To Mike: First I love how all of your examples were from democratic presidents save the obvious and correct examples of Bush’s tomfoolery. I especially love how you ignore all of the other GOP presidents corruption, since you wish to deal with history, lets look at Reagan’s obvious affinity for the 0.1 % of the population. Let’s talk about Hoover and his lack of confidence let alone common sense in how he dealt with the depression. Tell me the teapot dome scandal occurred under which president?? You wish to look at parties, tell me most scandals occur under what party??? As far as disregarding her because she is a student, that is not the case, I disregard her because she is doing all this a few years too late. The previous administration did more harm to the Constitution than any other. As a libertarian, you should know that. You should also know that in keeping the war costs off the books, our debt swelled to better than a trillion dollars under the previous administration.. Learn history and actually get the facts Mike, it will be your undoing if you do not.
“Doctor” B : Being a majority shareholder in a business does not mean that you run the business.. It means that you have influence yes, it means that you do not oversee the day to day, but in terms of running a business is that not the job description of a CEO? You did sat that you were not a business major correct? When the CEO of GM was unwilling to make the decisions that needed to be made, and was not changing his core values he was replaced… Tell me if you are majority shareholder of a business and you see that your company is fading, and the CEO is spending money hand over fist on his personal comfort, would you not logically exert your influence on the board of directors to fire said CEO, of course you would. That is what happened in business terms in which you did not major so it kind of disqualifies you from attempting to comment on the actions simply because you are not cogent, and therefore lack the acumen to comment on things you know nothing of. As stated before in my comment to Mike because Bush did not include the cost of war in the national budget the deficit was likely pushed above 1 trillion years ago. As far as you commenting on who gets what bonus, the last time I checked banks that take TARP funding are given the option of giving bonuses but there is a penalty for doing so. If you were paying attention two weeks ago, you would know that one of them is still offering bonuses, you lack of attention to detail again betrays your less than adequate public school education.
As far as my use of the name dumbya when describing George W. Bush it is an apt one considering his C average in school, his true lack of understanding when it came to policy, and his inability to take advice, sound advice when it was given to him. The clincher is his childlike habit of lying when telling the truth would suffice. But I bet you would rather ignore all that…. of course you would.
John, your ignorance comes shining through yet again. I denounced the actions of President Bush in every response to your lame points, so why would I defend him anywhere? Do you know ANY politicians that are truthful? If you dare say Obama, then you are far less intelligent than I gave you credit for. Don’t just assume someone with a different point of view is an “enemy”.
Also, I am not disqualified from commenting on any topic, that is the beauty of being an American, and a value I have previously and will continue to fight for.
The last time you checked, did you see if any banks giving bonuses were forced to accept TARP although they did not need it(another government control), and did you notice if those banks had repaid those TARP funds? If any business is not being “saved” by tax payer money(which there should be none) then they can pay their CEO’s whatever they wish, another one of those free country things that you seem to despise.
Where do you get off trying to belittle everyone, accusing all of being less intelligent for attending public schools(although I have not, so you were wrong there as well). I have worked damn hard for the title of doctor, only someone that does not appreciate hard work or high achievement would be so ignorant as to use quotations around a distinguished title. Perhaps a little envy John? You really are not worth more of my time.
doctor B. reading is fundamental, in your case necessary, if you bothered to read you would know that I separated my comments to two individuals you, and another poster by the name of Mike.. My only mention of Bush to you was in explaining my usage of the name dumbya. Goodness son, you are either self absorbed, or dense, which is it? Allow me to explain basic english composition to you. A name separated by semi colons (:) is indicative of a person being spoken to during the discourse of the written message. E: Mike: while I admire your comments, here is where I disagree with you, Doctor B: for someone who uses the moniker of one holding such a prestigious degree, you do yourself no favors in attempting to argue with me as I am far out of your class, you should attempt to argue with a fifth grader although I fear you may not fare as well with one so young either.
Wow and you want to argue banks that took TARP funds who are now attempting to give out bonuses. My friend I leave you to your ignorance which to you sounds so much like the bliss you apparently live in…. CARRY ON
LOL “doctor” you said yourself in a posting you made earlier “I will admit that I was not a business major(hence the title of Doctor)”. You said nothing about having earned anything, nothing about what your so called doctorate was in, envy, hardly, I am currently working on my own. Based on your responses yours is self granted, not one from any school, and in reality not one you worked hard for. If you had an actual doctorate, you would not have answered my last posting the (the one before the one above) in the manner in which you did. Your argument would have been more cohesive and would have been made in an intelligent manner. Not the haphazard way you presented. But you are right about one thing…. Your childlike argument is not worth my time, so please carry on, ignorance is truly your bliss
