Actress Melanie Griffith has checked into rehab at the Cirque Lodge in Utah for undisclosed issues that were later revealed to be just a routine “visit” according to her rep, who said “She is there to reinforce her commitment to stay healthy. This is part of a routine plan that was designed between her and her doctors years ago.”

According to sources, Melanie has had an alcohol addiction relapse and her husband, Spanish actor Antonio Banderas, is forcing her back into rehab.

An insider is quoted saying, “She’s working with the counsellors on getting control of her demons. The reason Melanie checked in was her husband was demanding that she get clean and sober.”

Another source tells the Star, “Melanie’s struggling right now, but Antonio has been checking in on her as much as he is allowed, making sure she gets back on her feet.”

The 52 year-old actress battled an alcohol and drug addiction back in the 1970’s and 80s and was more recently in rehab for an addiction to prescription painkillers in 1998 and 2000.
