Ellie Greenwich Dead At 68 (Photos)
Famed songwriter Ellie Greenwich has died of a heart attack at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in New York, where she had been treated for pneumonia, on Wednesday (August 26). Ellie was 68 years old.
The songwriter, who has been called the greatest melody writer of all time, wrote some notorious hits like “Then He Kissed Me” (the Crystals), “Be My Baby”, “I Can Hear Music” (The Ronettes, Beach Boys), “Hanky Panky” (a hit for Tommy James & the Shondells), “Maybe I Know” (Lesley Gore), and the song Phil Spector considered his greatest recording, “River Deep, Mountain High” (Ike and Tina Turner).
