King Brothers, Alex & Derek King, First Interview On The Today Show (Photos, Video)
The King Brothers, Alex King and Derek King, who were convicted as adults for the brutal murder of their father, Terry King, with a baseball bat during his sleep then setting their home on fire in an effort to conceal their crime at the tender age of 12 and 13 years old, have been released from jail after nearly a decade.
Alex King was released on Wednesday morning, April 9, 2008 at 9:45 a.m. after serving six years for his part in his father’s death, while Derek King was released in March, 2009 after serving seven years for his part in his father’s death. Alex and Derek finally spoke for the first time to Matt Lauer on The Today Show about their life before and after prison.
The brothers defused to talk about the motive of the murder, which is still unclear, and their neighbor, convicted sex offender Ricky Chavis’ involvement in the crime. Ricky was convicted of being an accessory after the fact.

I, honestly, do not know why they were sentenced to live out their teenage years in prison. They were kids! I know that doesn’t completely excuse them, but they were kids, as I said before. Kids are so easily swayed by people’s opinions and they can be bossed around quite easily. They had to give up their teenage years, which should have been the best of their lives. Sometimes, I honestly don’t know about our society these days. And another thing I cannot believe is that Chavis was aquitted! The damage, however, has been done, they can’t get their lives back. That’s the one thing about life, once years are gone, you can’t get them back.
Shea, you are a total moron. These kids killed- bludgeoned to death!- an innocent man for no reason! They deserve to rot in prison for the rest of their lives if not be stoned to death. It is so sad how stupid and naive people are especially when it comes to dealing with stone cold killers like the King brothers. Stupid fools will judge them by their “innocent” looks, but these kids are cold blooded murderers! It’s one thing to forgive them, it’s another thing entirely to give them the freedom to kill and commit crimes again. What a stupid, ignorant, naive and gullible society this has become!
The King brothers have never said why they killed their father. I think it has to do with their homosexuality. I think both Derek and Alex are gay. They killed their father so they could be free to run away with a man, Ricky Chavis.
They killed their father because they were afraid he was going to punish them for running away 10 days earlier. turned out they were staying with their neighbor Chavis, who may have molested Alex.

Pediophiles get into the minds of children by either putting fear in them or turning them against their parents in order to convince the kids to only trust in them . I never saw 2 psyco killers in the King brothers, they were children that were mentally twisted by a convicted child molester Chavis. He was the one who should have gone to prison for life, even Terry King wanted the boys to stay away from him but Chavis allowed the boys to runaway and live with him before the murder and the pervert picked them up after the murder and cleaned their clothes , gave them shelter and then he got away with murder because Chavis plan worked. The boys did short time for being minors & admitting to the murder which was put in their heads by Chavis , Chavis was aquitted no one would listen to the King brothers back in 2001 when they tried to talk about Chavis part in the crime so they have no reason to talk about it now because whats done is done . Im glad they are free & I hope they have a good future , that they regret and get the right help to overcome what Chavis did to them and remember their Father with love and sadness. Good luck Guys, be good and fight against child molesters, warn kids of their traps so they dont become victims like the 2 of you did and your Dad (RIP ).
Honestly put all of them away for good! It doesnt matter if they were kids! the only thing that i might sympathize about these two is that they seem to realize what they did was extremely wrong and they work to make themselves better human beings. With that being said, IT WRONG TO KILL! So now kids can go out and kill whoever they want because they r just kids??! i WAS A KID ONCE and i didnt feel the need to kill anyone or make myself a pedophyle bait! Please! If you are gay thats ok but having sex with a 12 years old is wrong ! this world is doomed
I just watched a special on these kids and they werent convicted of killing their farther, they were convicted for opening the door to the pedofile. The jury in their case thought their confessions seemed scripted and thought that initially they were trying to stick up for the pedofile. Are you all going to be that naive that these boys deserved to spend theirs lives in jail. When they opened that door I dont think they really comprehended what was really going to happen and what the consequences would have been. They didnt kill their father, but I wouldnt put it past the convicted child molester. What a country we live in…
