South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson Shouts “You Lie” At Obama (Video)
President Barack Obama defended his 10-year, $900 billion health care plan to a joint session of Congress on Wednesday (September 9) - watch full video. House Republican expressed their disagreement with disrespectful signs and waving health care bills in objection but South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson went too far shouting “You Lie” during Obama’s speech.
Obama was explaining that his health care proposal would not cover illegal immigrants when Wilson shouted “You Lie”, which was followed by responses like “Shame on you!” and “Throw him out!” from the Democratic side while First Lady Michelle Obama seemed to mouth a drawn-out “damn” (watch video below).
Rep. Joe Wilson quickly issued the following apology: “This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”
In conclusion, politicians just don’t know how to behave and we wonder what is wrong with the world. It’s a complete lack of respect. Are we in high school again!?! It’s a speech (to inform, the basic form of human communication!) not a debate!
When Obama told the chamber that the “death panel” lie was, in fact, a lie, a Republican member said loudly enough to be heard in the press gallery, “Read the bill”. And when Obama told the chamber that he had “no interest in putting insurance companies out of business,” a Republican member responded with a loud, “Ha!”
“Nineteen years, never, never have I seen anything like this,” said a furious Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) after the speech.
“I thought it was very inappropriate behavior, to hold up signs. None of us ever would have done that,” said Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.). “I don’t think in the Congress of the United States there ought to be catcalls, or people standing up and yelling comments or holding up signs.”
Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.), the longest serving member in House history, said he was not impressed by the GOP antics. “Well, you’ve got to understand: They’re Republicans. They’re just doing what comes natural,” he told HuffPost.

UPDATE: This type of incident is not without precedent. Former President George W. Bush was also booed by Democrats during his 2005 State of the Union address (watch video below).
According to Newsweek reporter Richard Wolffe in “Renegade: The Making of a President“, Barack Obama has also accused Bill Clinton of promoting “bald-faced lies” during the 2008 presidential campaign.

We have become a country of clods. When a congressman displays this kind of behavior usually reserved for and seen in gutters and bar room debates in a chamber of the US Congress, it clearly depicts how far we have fallen from what was once an ethical, freeedom loving/defending country. This man is a former lawyer, an army officer and an ambassador. I can’t imagine serving with him in the military, and how could Pres. Reagan stomach having him around? For shame!
The President of the United States of America is lying. It is totally appropriate for those in Congress to speak the truth, especially in such a PUBLIC forum. It is only inappropriate if it is UNTRUE. Respresentative Wilson will prove to be correct in his accusation.
Harry Reid called President Bush a liar and offered no apology. I don’t think that was the place to call out the President, but at least he did it to his face. Obama is absolutely lying, and should be taken to task on it.

Uhhh Booing during a speech is a lot different than actually calling the President a liar during a speech before both houses of Congress, and the Republicans booed, and walked out, and were texting during the President’s speech. Based on that there is no way they can comment on what he said because they were not listening…..
“The time has come to rise up and take this country back, to again make it safe. for people who actually completed the seventh grade”.
There is no way Wilson read this bill so I guess we can add illiterate to his resume
House Bill 3200 specifically says, in language made precise and binding — in section 246 —under the Heading:”No federal payment for undocumented aliens.”
For the benefit of the factually-challenged! “Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.”

Oh and JW, Harry Ried had enough sense and decorum not to call the President a liar during an appearance before a joint session of Congress, Lord knows someone should have done it but they were able to control themselves unlike Joe Wilson.
