Congressman Joe Wilson (R – S.C.), best known for shouting “You Lie” during President Barack Obama’s health care speech (read more and watch video here), just released a new video on his website (JoeWilsonForCongress.com) to ask supporters to donate to his re-election campaign (watch video below) on Thursday (September 10).
“I want to take this moment to speak to you directly,” Wilson said in the video, in which he acknowledged that his interruption of the presidential address to Congress was “wrong” and reminded viewers that he “apologized to the president shortly afterwards.”
But the outburst “occurred after a month of town hall meetings and deeply emotional conversations I had with constituents who are as passionate as I am about this issue,” he said. “On these issue I will not be muzzled. I will speak up and speak loudly against this risky plan”.
“The supporters of the government takeover of health care and the liberals who want to give health care to illegals are using my opposition as an excuse to distract from the critical questions being raised about this poorly conceived plan. They want to silence anyone who speaks out against it. They made it clear they want to defeat me and pass the plan. I need your help now,” he said.
Wilson made this passionate request after he noticed his opponent effortlessly raise more than half a million dollars since his infamous outburst against Obama.

What I want Joe Wilson or someone to do is to post the lies and half-truths that The President said in his speech, and the number of times he called number of American’s liars. Mr. President, you’re the one who needs to apologize to all of us. Lying presidents eventually loose the respect of the people and therefore the authority to rule. Come on people, get your eyes off the smokescreen and distraction of Joe Wilson’s error, and look how the Dems are using that to hide the lies and the accusations of the President. That was the much bigger crime that night.
