San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman was arrested earlier on Sunday (September 5) after cops responded to a call at 3.45 am local time from a distressed woman, Tila Nguyen aka Tila Tequila, who claimed to have been chocked and restrained.

Tila told the cops Shawne had choked her and physically restrained her when she tried to leave his home at Sage Crest Drive in Poway. The 27 year-old singer/model/reality star signed a citizen’s arrest at the scene, charging Merriman with battery and false imprisonment and was taken to Pomerado Hospital.

Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan is considering the possibility of stripping off her clothes and posing naked for the famous men’s magazine, Playboy.

The magazine has been asking Lindsay to pose for their centerfold for years but the 23 year-old actress is only now excited about doing it since the offer went up to $900K. We have already seen almost everything so it wouldn’t be such a stretch to see Lindsay completely nude.

I promise this process is getting close to being over, but I need your help in this poll to help me eliminate one of these two names that are under consideration for the sports blog. Bump Sports was the run away winner in the last poll, but I think many of you were voting based on what you think I would like instead of what would be best.

Rounding Home – www.RoundingHome.com – Rounding home is a play on rounding second or third in baseball. Rounding Home doesn’t happen in an actual baseball game, which makes it even more unique for a blog title. It does kind of imply ‘after the game, post game coverage, leaving the ball park, etc.’

Sportscasm – www.Sportscasm.com – a combo of sports and sarcasm which I am sure most of the writers on the site will heavily employ. Great potential to be catchy, kind of like sportscenter…Sportscasm – could be confused as sports orgasm instead of sarcasm and that could be a pro and con as well.

Detroit Tigers Hall-of-Fame announcer Ernie Harwell has been diagnosed with an incurable cancer in his bile duct.  No definite time table has been put on his remaining days.

Harwell tells the Detroit Free Press: “We don’t know how long this lasts. It could be a year, it could be much less than a year, much less than a half a year. Who knows? Whatever’s in store, I’m ready for a new adventure. That’s the way I look at it.”

Harwell spent time in the hospital this past month with a blocked bile duct. That is when the doctors found the cancer and made the diagnosis.

Ernie was elected into the baseball Hall-of-Fame in 1981.  He retired from broadcasting in 2002, but has remained active by writing three books (4th due later this year) and doing commercials in the Detroit area.

All About Steve – (PG-13) Mary Horowitz is a cruciverbalist – a crossword puzzle constructor. Her brain spins at warp speed with an endless stream of arcane information. Carriers – (PG-13) Four kids are driving through the desert on their way to the beach, their faces anything but cheery. This isn’t Spring Break. They are trying to outrun the end of the world-and each other. Determined to elude the deadly virus, Danny, his brother Brian, his girlfriend Bobby and Danny’s school friend Kate speed across the Southwestern U.S. to reach the place of possible safety. Over the course of four days, the group is faced with moral decisions that no human should ever be forced to face. They discover that their greatest enemy is not the microbe attacking humanity, but the darkness within themselves.

The late King Of Pop Michael Jackson was finally laid to rest in a private ceremony attended by family and celebrities, who wanted to remember and pay their respect to the King, at the Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles on Thursday (September 3).

The star-studded ceremony was attended by Elizabeth Taylor, Barry Bonds, The Rev. Al Sharpton, Macaulay Culkin, Mila Kunis, Chris Tucker, Kenny Ortega (choreographer), Corey Feldman and Lisa Marie Presley.

Michael’s family, including his mother Katherine Jackson and father Joe Jackson, his siblings, and his three children Prince, Paris, and Blanket, were driven to the memorial park in a fleet of Rolls Royce limousines.

LeGarrette Blount is the classless Oregon Ducks football player that lost his cool on Thursday night after the Boise State Broncos spanked his Ducks. Blount went over to Byron Hout as he was celebrating the victory (and taunting Oregon) and punched him so hard he fell to the ground. Blount later had to be restrained from going into the stands to fight Boise State fans.

Blount had 8 carries for -5 yards and 1 above average punch. Watch the video above for all of the MMA action from LaGarrette.

Former actress Maia Campbell is back in the news and entirely for the wrong reason.  A new video has surfaced showing the once hottie actress selling her body and whatever else for crack cocaine.

Campbell is best known for her film role in Poetic Justice and role on the L.L. Cool J television show In The House.

Whitney Houston got clean in just enough time for Maia to delve down into the gutter and take her crack title.

Maia’s condition is compounded by her schizophrenia which she refuses to take medication for. She has also had to deal with the early death of her mother, Bebe Moore Campbell, back in 2006 at the age of 56-years old. Bebe was the acclaimed author of Brothers and Sisters.

She is in a horrible condition in the video and I must warn the language is not appropriate for children and most adults.
