Late Show host David Letterman has finally publicly apologized to his wife Regina Lasko Letterman for his office affair with former Late Show assistant Stephanie Birkitt on Monday (October 5). This woman may not be the only member of the staff that had an intimate relationship with Dave in the past.

Dave said, “Now the other thing is my wife, Regina. She has been horribly hurt by my behavior, and when something happens like that, if you hurt a person and it’s your responsibility, you try to fix it.

“And at that point, there’s only two things that can happen,” he continued. “Either you’re going to make some progress and get it fixed, or you’re going to fall short and perhaps not get it fixed, so let me tell you folks, I got my work cut out for me.”

Despite Letterman claiming these affairs happened before he tied the knot, David and Regina have been together for 23 years and they have a 5 year-old son named Harry. Since Letterman’s confession on Thursday (watch video here), CBS News producer Robert Halderman has been arrested for extortion.
