Brooke Astor’s Son, Anthony Marshall, Convicted (Photos)
Late philanthropist Brooke Astor’s son Anthony Marshall was convicted on 14 charges including first degree grand larceny and scheming to defraud on Thursday (October 8 ) and will face from 1 to 25 years in prison. While, one of his lawyers, Francis X. Morrissey Jr., was also convicted on five charges including scheming to defraud, conspiracy and forgery.
The 85 year-old man tricked his dying mother, who was 105 years old and suffered from Alzheimer, out of nearly $200 million. Marshall’s attorney, Frederick Hafetz said he was stunned by the verdict and plans to appeal. Charlene Marshall, Anthony Marshall’s wife, accompanied and supported her husband through the trial.
