Filippa Hamilton’s Scary Skinny Ralph Lauren Ad (PHOTOS)
UPDATE: Filippa Hamilton Fired For Being TOO Fat
A poorly extremely Photoshopped ad for Ralph Lauren featuring model Filippa Hamilton is causing uproar against the super skinny unrealistic idea of beauty that has been widely spread by the media lately, which affects young girls’ self-esteem and body image.
Celebs like Jessica Alba (Photoshopped photos), Kim Kardashian (Photoshopped photos) and Kelly Clarkson (Photoshopped photos), who claim to feel comfortable in their own skin and who defend curves are sexy, have all been involved in recent Photoshop disasters.

I think this photo is ridiculous. Filippa Hamilton looks sick. I’m not effected by the media’s ideas of perfection and body image, but there are people who are. I think that its great that there are women out there that can be acknowledged for their body type that isn’t a size 0. In our society today body image can be everything, but does it need to be unhealthy body types that portray this image of perfection? I think that companies like Ralph Lauren would have so much more business if the woman in the ad campaigns was a size 6 and could appeal to the average woman. Healthy lifestyles are so much more important than being a size 0. Photoshopping happens, we know this, but why photoshop a perfectly normal woman who is happy with her body?
It’s becaus eof this, girls are sick. I hope Glamour magazine October can help girls get back on their feet again.
In reference to my lost comment, I feel that women with curves should be acknowledged. It ads like this and other “photoshop disasters” that create turmoil within the perfection of body image. Unhealthy lifestyles are becoming the focus from ads such as this. Not only has Ralph Lauren unintentionally helped to enforce unhealthy lifestyles but, I believe, is also losing customers due to the fact that he dosn’t appeal to the average. With healthier looking models of a size 6 as opposed to “photoshop disasters” of negative sizes, everybody could benefit.
It doesn’t even look pretty; so why would I buy this issue or go seek out RL clothing line when it just looks LAME! sorry, but it does. it’s kinda gross and scary at the same time.

I saw her on a show today, and I thought her skin looked very unhealthy– sort of grayish– maybe from her diet? Also, she seemed mannish looking. This doesn’t bother me. I think models should be of all types– feminine, mannish, plain, average, ugly, drop dead gorgeous. Looks doesn’t influence my purchasing. I just thought maybe she was fired because perhaps the bosses are superficial looksists? Maybe it isn’t her weight they objected to, but something else, and they won’t own up to the truth, but use the “contract” bit as a cover-up? It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

She doesn’t look skinny… she looks emaciated. How could anyone in their right mind perceive this as glamorous? Why take an already thin model and photoshop her to the point that her waist is smaller than her head? That’s just sick. If anyone was really that skinny, they’d die.
