German model Edis Kayalar was arrested, charged and deported to his home country after trying to extort money from former supermodel Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber for a picture of their 7 year-old daughter bounded to a chair and gagged while wearing revealing clothes.

The picture has been taken by a former nanny, who had been in a relationship with Edis, during a game of cops and robbers without Cindy’s knowledge. Edis claims he was first concerned the nanny might had been abusing the child so he stole the photo and later decided to find out if he could get in trouble for trying to sell it.

Rande paid $1,000 for what he thought was the original photo but when he continued to be extorted the FBI got involved and Edis was arrested on September 16, 2009, and deported to Germany for an immigration violation. Edis called Rande again from Germany (November 1, 2009), saying, he “had no choice now but to extort the victims for money because they had gotten him deported.” Edis may face up to two years in jail.
