Rumors of golfing great Tiger Woods having had an alleged affair with Rachel Uchitel (photos) appear to be closer and closer to the truth than any of us could have imagined just days ago.
TMZ has confirmed that the lacerations to Tiger’s face, which were treated at a local Orlando hospital, weren’t from wrecking his Cadillac Escalade into a fire hydrant, but instead were caused by his wife Elin Nordegren during a domestic dispute at their Isleworth home.
We’re told he said his wife had confronted him about reports that he was seeing another woman. The argument got heated and, according to our source, she scratched his face up. We’re told it was then Woods beat a hasty retreat for his SUV — but according to our source, Woods says his wife followed behind with a golf club. As Tiger drove away, she struck the vehicle several times with the club.
We’re told Woods became “distracted,” thought the vehicle was stopped, and looked to see what had happened. At that point the SUV hit the fire hydrant and then hit a tree.
Woods’ people earlier had told reporters that Elin had used the golf club to break out the glass to free Tiger. People close to Tiger, including all his handlers, tried to cover up this story for as long as they could. But they are looking shadier by the second as the truth continues to be uncovered by a non-stop media blitz.
This story is likely going to get nastier the truth suffocates up to the surface. Woods image, which has been squeaky clean among pro-athlete standards, is the reason most of his fans have given him the benefit of the doubt as this story has unfolded.
