Tiger Woods’ Dr. Anthony Galea Performance-Enhancing Drugs Scandal
As if eleven mistresses and counting weren’t enough trouble for golfer Tiger Woods to handle at the moment, his Canadian doctor, Anthony Galea, is suspected of providing his athletes with performance-enhancing drugs. Dr. Galea was arrested after being caught transporting human growth hormones and Actovegin (a drug extracted from calf’s blood) across the US-Canadian border on October 15, 2009.
The FBI is currently conducting an investigation based on Galea’s medical records, which reportedly included several professional athletes. Dr. Galea denies the accusations, saying none of those athletes were taking performance-enhancing drugs but he is developing a new platelet-rich plasma therapy to speed the post-surgery recovery process.
Tiger reportedly submitted himself to this new treatment at least four times in February and March as he was having trouble recovering from his June 2008 knee surgery. Dr. Galea’s rep told Tiger is not involved in this case: “I would really ask that you guys don’t write this? If Tiger is NOT implicate, and won’t be, let’s please give the kid a break.” Tiger may have nothing to do with this but his reputation is completely damaged – if he cheats on his wife, why wouldn’t he cheat on golf?
