Domino’s CEO David Brandon Becomes Michigan AD

Domino's CEO David Brandon

Domino’s Pizza CEO David Brandon is leaving the large pizza giant to become the next athletic director (AD) at the University of Michigan.  Brandon played football at Michigan under Bo Schembechler as a backup quarterback.

A former Michigan football player, Brandon has numerous ties to the university but it’s still noteworthy for a current CEO to step down to become an athletic director. Then again, Brandon was reportedly a candidate to become commissioner of the National Football League in 2006 when Roger Goodell was hired and even had the support of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

Brandon said that Domino’s is in great shape and he plans to stay closely connected to the mediocre pizza chain.

“My leadership team, our team members and franchisees are the very best in this — or any – business,” Brandon said in a statement. “I will continue to stay connected to this great brand and company as chairman of the board, and I am confident that, under Patrick’s leadership, Domino’s Pizza will continue to grow and succeed. This company’s best days still lie ahead.”

Brandon will replace Bill Martin upon approval from the Board of Regents.  J. Patrick Doyle is expected to replace Brandon as CEO at Domino’s.
