British TV presenter/model Katie Piper told the horrific story of how she was raped and completely disfigured with a cup of industrial sulphuric acid by her revengeful boyfriend Daniel Lynch on May 31, 2008, in a shocking documentary, “My Beautiful Face“, that aired last year (WARNING: Graphic Pictures Below).

Katie met Daniel, a martial arts enthusiast, when he emailed her via Facebook saying he followed her career. Katie confessed she got a lot of emails from admirers but for some reason she fancied him. The two met a few days later at an event and a first date was set. On the second date, Daniel confessed his love for Katie and she couldn’t have been happier: “He told me on our second date that he loved me. His arm was always around me and even when we were in the car and stopped at traffic lights, he would turn and kiss me.”

Daniel was the perfect boyfriend until he started becoming obsessed and she realized he had anger management issues. It turns out Daniel, who lived with his mother, had a history of violence complete with several convictions and he had being in jail for throwing boiling water into the face of another man, however, unfortunately Katie didn’t knew this facts then.

One day Daniel raped Katie and held her captive for eight hours in a hotel room. During that time he beat her, threatened her with a razor, smashed her head and said he would hang her with a belt. They left the room, Katie feared for her life but when he let her out of the car she decided not to go to the police because she thought he would kill her.

A couple days later, Daniel apologized and begged her to read an email he had written. Katie’s internet was down and she decided to leave her apartment to go to an internet cafe. Daniel was talking to her on the phone the whole time, asked her what she was wearing, she answered and that was when “I saw a man in a hooded top walking towards me,” she says. “He was carrying a cup. I assumed he was a beggar so I reached into my bag for some change. He came up close, like he was going to speak, and threw liquid from the cup at my face. The pain was indescribable, but for a split second I remember thinking, ‘How rude to throw coffee when I was trying to help him.’ I could feel my skin and clothes burning off me.”

Katie recalls, “I could hear someone screaming and screaming and kept wishing they’d be quiet. Then I realised it was me. I was standing in the street with people walking past me and I could feel my face evaporating. I thought I was on fire as the acid ate at my skin. In one of Danny’s calls he’d told me he’d got a present for me that would change my life forever. I knew instantly that he was behind it.”

After undergoing extensive surgery and being in a coma for more than 12 days, Katie finally had a chance to look in the mirror for the first time. Katie admitted, “In my head I assumed I’d look like the old Katie, just with a few red blotches. I was so embarrassed that people had seen me like this. There was nothing about me that I recognized. My identity as I knew it had gone.”

For months Katie was afraid to leave her home, closed all her social networking accounts, kept all doors and windows locked and was even terrified of unexpected callers and hot drinks. The 26 year-old is now more positive about her future, thanks her plastic surgeons for the incredible achieved results, which have exceeded her expectations, and she is finally just happy to be alive. Katie says she is now a better person.

Katie said, “Now, though, I realize my life before was so superficial. I used to refuse to go out if I had a spot on my face. Now I wish a spot was all I had to worry about. There are people who point and stare. One man even knocked my sun hat off and laughed at me. Those times hurt, but I won’t let them get me down. I’d like to be able to have a husband and family one day. I can’t live a life of regret.”

Daniel Lynch and his accomplice, Stefan Sylvestre (photos below), who actually threw the acid at Katie, were arrested and sentenced to life. The judge described them as “the face of pure evil”. Katie concludes, “He may have taken away what was once important to me but, cheesy as it sounds, I am a better person for it. And he couldn’t take away my spirit. I love my life and I know that I have a future now, and it’s a wonderful feeling.”
