R&B Great Teddy Pendergrass Dead at 59
Teddy Pendergrass, one of the greatest R&B singers of all-time, has passed away in Pennsylvania at the age of 59. He died at the Bryn Mawr Hospital near Philadelphia.
His son, Teddy Pendergrass, Jr., said his father had been suffering from complications from colon cancer surgery 8 months ago.
He was best known for his hits ‘Close The Door,’ ‘Turn Off The Lights,’ and ‘Can’t We Try.’
Pendergrass was paralyzed in a tragic car crash back in 1982.
Teddy could be described as a poor man’s ‘Marvin Gaye,’ although at his pinnacle he was as good as any R&B singer to ever swoon the ladies.
