Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch” star Captain Phil Harris has passed away in a hospital, where he had been after suffering a stroke a few weeks ago, in Alaska on Tuesday (February 9). Captain Phil was 53 years old.

Harris’ kids, Jake and Josh, tell TMZ, “It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dad, Captain Phil Harris. Dad has always been a fighter and continued to be until the end. For us and the crew, he was someone who never backed down. We will remember and celebrate that strength. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers.”

This sudden death was a shock to the family since Captain Phil appeared to be doing a lot better lately. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family in this difficult time of mourning. R.I.P. Captain Phil Harris
