[...] The American Idol Season 9 Top 12 boys/guys/men performed for the first time live on the Idol stage on Wednesday (February 24). Joe Munoz sang Jason Mraz’s “You and I Both” and he did a great job (watch video below). But it was still not enough to convince Simon Cowell, who thought the performance was forgettable, that he has “star quality”. Ellen DeGeneres pointed out that Joe can sing and actually looks like he belongs on that stage. [...]
I’m a Canadian watching this show on the periphery – meaning I can watch but I can’t vote. I find it disturbing the Joe Munoz was voted off. Clearly there were two male singers that were much worse. Todrick Hall and Tim Urban. I guess that out of all the little girls voting and controlling the votes – these two boys were just not cute enough (or young enough and/or white enough). It just goes to show how superficial and frivolous this show actually is. Joe Munoz should NOT have been voted off so early. But, I guess because the tween girls don’t get wet over him, then he is not someone that should be on the show.
Is this not a singing contest? No actually, it is a popularity contest where the pubescent/prepubescent girls have the vote. I guess Joe Munoz was too “Latin” looking for their taste. How else could he have been voted off so soon? His voice and performance was way greater than Tim Urban and Todrick’s attempt at singing. The only thing that Tim Urban has in his favour is that is a good looking all American guy. His performance was absolutely terrible. America got it wrong. At least, in the X Factor, Jedward were entertaining. There is nothing entertaining about Todrick Hall and Tim Urban.
