Brittany Murphy’s complete autopsy results featuring an extensive and detailed toxicology report has been release to finally put to rest the rumors that she had an history of drugs and alcohol abuse.

There were elevated levels of Vicodin and other drugs from over-the-counter cold medicine in her system, but no illegal substances. The 32 year-old actress had a pneumonia and tried to self-medicate which proved to be fatal. The primary cause of death is pneumonia with multiple drug intoxication and a low-blood count as contributing factors.

According to the report, “Multiple medications were present in the blood, with elevated levels of hydrocodone, acetaminophen, and chlorpheniramine. L-methamphetamine was also present.”

“It should be noted that the pattern of use of these medications suggest treatment of symptoms of a cold or other respiratory infection. Acetaminophen and hydrocodone are components of Vicodin. Chlorpheniramine is the active ingredient in some over-the-counter medications. L-methamphetamine is a component of some inhalers.”

The report states, “The possible adverse physiological effects of elevated levels of these medications cannot be discounted, especially in her weakened state. Therefore the manner of death is Accident.”

There were 24 empty prescriptions bottles in her home, which included, prevacid, clonazepam, propranolol, vicoprofen, zolpidem, carbamazepine, klonopin, Ativan, hydorocodone (Vicodin) and multiple vitamins. As we had already reported, Brittany’s death was ruled accidental but preventable (read more details) – if she had sought professional help and had been treated in a hospital, Brittany could still be alive.
