Senator Roy Ashburn Arrested After Leaving Gay Bar (MUGSHOT, VIDEO)
State Senator Roy Ashburn (R-Calif.), who is best known for being an avid opponent of gay rights, was arrested for drunk driving after leaving Faces, a gay nightclub, in a state-issued vehicle in midtown Sacramento on Wednesday (March 3) – watch video below.
The good senator was accompanied by an identified male individual who took the passenger seat of the car. Sen. Ashburn was arrested and charged with two misdemeanors of driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol level higher than .08%. Ashburn was later released on a $1,400 bond.
The 55 year-old state senator and father-of-four has already issued a formal apology for this unfortunate incident. Sen. Ashburn said in a statement, “I am deeply sorry for my actions and offer no excuse for my poor judgment. I accept complete responsibility for my conduct and am prepared to accept the consequences for what I did. I am also truly sorry for the impact this incident will have on those who support and trust me – my family, my constituents, my friends, and my colleagues in the Senate.”
