The American Idol Season 9 Top 9 finalists had the privilege to be able to sing songs written by The Beatles’ legends John Lennon and Sir Paul McCartney on the live show on Tuesday (April 6). Michael Lynche aka Big Mike chose a song that is more of a family tradition, “Eleanor Rigby” (watch video below).

Big Mike cannot do wrong! Once again Mike proved that he can make an old song sound contemporary. Kara DioGuardi thought it was brilliant but Simon Cowell begged to disagree labeling it a very dramatic and theatrical performance. Randy Jackson reminded Simon that “musical” is relevant today, especially because of the fantastic success of “Glee”. Simon is confused about what type of artist Mike wants to be.
