Shocking: Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt’s Twins Have Down Syndrome?

The National Enquirer published a sickening story claiming Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s twins, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, have Down Syndrome simply based on their “analysis” of the latest pictures of the younger members of the Jolie-Pitt gang (more pictures of the twins here).

”They hate that their kids are under such intense observation. It’s very difficult for them to deal with. As far as their concerned, Knox and Vivienne are perfect. Brad and Angie aren’t the type to sweep sensitive issues under the carpet,” a friend of the couple says. “The twins are healthy, but if there were medical problems with them, I think Brad and Angie would subtly try to destigmatize the issue by not hiding them.”

National Enquirer has crossed the line. The twins do NOT have Down Syndrome! Using and slightly distorting children’s pictures to try to substantiate a repulsive story claiming the twins look “weird” and therefore could suffer from Down Syndrome is absolutely the lowest of the low we’ve ever seen a tabloid do.

Why is it “sickening” to think that their twins might have Down syndrome? As the mother of a beautiful, amazing, blessing of a child with Down syndrome, I find the presumption that ‘Down syndrome’ is an insult to be antiquated and unrealistic. If they do in fact have Down syndrome (although being that fraternal twins would be unlikely to both be born with the condition—it would be more likely that only one would have it), I can assure you that their parents—like the rest of us who parent children with Down syndrome—will find that it’s just not all that different from parenting a non-Ds child.

Oh, and I don’t think that Down syndrome features make a child look “weird,” either. We are all unique, all individual threads in the tapestry of life.

Sorry folks but I think the Enquirer is right on the money saying these kids have the Down! They are victims of the drugs of Pittiful and Jolie! DON’T HAVE ANY MORE KIDS YOU DON’T RAISE THEM ANYWAY, YOUR HIRED HELP DOES! TRADGIC!

I lost a child who could have had many disabilities,so I don’t like seeing any child being marked in this way. this is just wrong. it don’t matter who the parents are, this is wrong to talk about the kids this way. the ones in this picture do not have downs. I know downs when i see it. we don’t know who takes care of these kids, you are not there in their house. I honestly think they should have gotten married many years ago before getting all these kids. they are not thinking about the kids. they are not being fair to these children.

the first time i saw those kids i knew that they were down ,eveyone just didnt want to say anything cause of how there parents are.both of them should take care of what is in there backyard before wanting to take care of the other kids in the world .the must be ashame of them and that is so sad, look at jenny mcarthy she started helping with kids that were like her son.now that is a mother that loves her child.not like angelina & brad that kept them hide for so long before they let the people see them.be proud parents

The real tragedy is the headlines that consider it “tragic” if babies are born with Down syndrome.

I cant believe no one has not already picked up on this.I don’t buy or read the national enquirer, but saw the cover yesterday at a store. I suspected the twins had DS when seeing them photographed at an airport in Japan when they were only 6 months old. I thought it again after looking at the photos taken recently on the balcony in Venice. At least they have the money and resources for the best care, special learning and development specialist.

They should only be so lucky. Kids with downs are the most loving individuals on this planet. They teach us all a lesson in life. It’s only TRAGIC to ignorant morons. Believe me, if their kids have downs, then they have been blessed!

Every child I have ever seen that has down’s is the most loving and happy to witness. If that is the case and its speculation at this point I don’t find it shameful at all. I personally think they resemble the eldest daughter Shiloh.

why do people describe down syndrome kids as a blessing that they teach us to love, why does a child have to be born with a job to teach me something, i would want my child to be able to experience everything life has to offer and to experience the same things as others his age, but these are the things we come up with to keep from screaming how unfair life is. i say luckily these kids don’t have downs

I am the VERY proud Granny of a lovely 11 month old baby girl w/ DS — nothing TRAGIC about it. If one of these twins has DS, so what — my little grandbaby is delightful and her 3 older siblings treat her like I would expect them to treat ANY baby that came into the home… These papers are always stepping over the line – well, they don’t see the lines actually — DS babies, kids and adults are awesome — the TRAGEDY is that Dr’s are killing them before they are born at an alarming rate — why doesn’t The Enquirer care about that?

Some of you are the ones who are shocking and disturbing! The tragedy is that some people are such bigots that they would call a child with Downs a tragedy or marked if they are it is because of people who refuse to accept people with downs are people. Get over people! And fyi drug use does not cause down syndrome.

The story is sickening because the NE is using innocent babies & a medical diagnosis to sell papers.

These kids DO NOT have DS. First of all, anyone with common sense knows that it would be close to impossible for both fraternal twins to have DS. It’s a chromosomal defect, not a disease or genetically inherited trait. Second of all, they are both walking…basically unheared of in DS babies at that age. Thirdly, while the picture on the cover of NE does show Viv to have some DS type facial traits, other pictures taken more recently & closer up do not. Look at Brad’s baby pics & see where the cheeks come from. Look at Angies to see the eye slant.

The person at the NE is such a poor writer that he/she can’t even differentiate between the homonyms their & they’re so any judgement made on the condition of said children is suspect in the least.

Lastly, yes DS children are a blessing, but honestly, did you hope & pray that your child has DS? Are you envious of people who’s children have cardiac problems & learning disabilities? It is sad that anyone have any kind of medical condition from Psoriasis to brain damage & it is tragic that moronic people are so ultra-sensitive to words & defensive of the terminology people use. Get mad if I call you “a retard” but saying someone has mental retardation is a just a term.

The world is not use to unique looking kids I mean beauty to a level you cant explain !!!! Those kids are indeed beautiful they just have chubbly cheeks and most babies do because of the harmones in the milk they drink and chubby cheeks are cute!!!! it only means their facial features are gonna be even more cute when they get older it also means they are gonna be tall. As far as Viv slanted eyes Angelina has slanted eyes and she is one of the most beautiful girl on the planet!! her eyes make her more exotic !! hey by the way Taylor Swift has slanted eyes and she does not have DS infact Taylor Swift a pretty girl and her eyes give her that edge! Just to educate you slanted eyes are not good marker for DS!!!! small set ears and tongue hanging out the mouth are some of the clearer markers and babies suck their tongue so dont be confused when some Babies suck their tongue. Viv and Knox are two beautiful kids and you haters are upset because Brad is Not with Jenifer Anistan but it is not OK for you idiots out their to find a way to hurt Angelina but to try to dig deep to hurt her and you choose to target her kids not fair!! Brad and Angie are gonna b together get over it people they are gonna have more beautiful babies, Shiloh Viv and Knox are three of the most georgeous babies I ever seen like I say beautttttty out of this world!!!! Angie and Brad I have much love and respect for you wonderful people my name is Mitzie Reavis
I want Brad and Angie to know that when you are ask to get a statue of your baby made or you get 14 million dollars for your babies pictures people are gonna b jealous!!!!! y’all are just jealous of these cute kids so find another way to vent because name calling is not the answer!!!
I aint even gonna lie I wish I was doing it up like Angelina too but the difference is I like her a lot!!! can’t say that about you hater!! ok enough you all and you National Enquirer If you guys keep disrespecting kids people like that you will loose a lot of readers like myself .I may read your magazine while I wait in line at the grocery store but to actually use my money to purchase your magazine I doubt that!!! I wont make a purchase because it is clear @ the National Enquirer that you all have no morals and if it means exploiting kids to make a buck you guys will but you wont get my buck!!! and many others wont spend any money buying your magazine !!!!

my son actually has ds and he walked, talked, and is fully potty trained day and night at the same age as my older children. bringing my son into our lives has only given us more patients having him in our lives has only shown us a lot more love he is one of the happiest children i have ever seen i would feel pretty bad if people talked this way about my son who has so much zest for life ds is no different then u or i they may just take longer to learn but with time and patience they will learn this story hurt bad cause who really cares if they do cause they still need love and not a bunch of people making a big deal out of it. and i wouldn’t change my son who is 4 in a million years if i could change anything it would be how rude people r against others with a disability who bleed and hurt the same ds children will learn everything they r taught and i bet they wouldn’t talk bad about a single person in life they r great kids with a disability thanks for reading my thoughts about ds

I don’t think it is wrong to state it if it’s true. Since Angelina and Brad are so famous, they could help others parents by example. I had a cousin that had Down’s Syndrome and his parents never hid him. In the pictures (and I have seen quite a few), the twins do seem to have the same appearance as my relative.

I honestly could care less whether or not these kids have Down syndrome, but I just had to comment… First and foremost, the only SHOCKER or TRAGEDY here is that there are so many people SUFFERING in this world from being ignorant, people SUFFERING from having prejudiice.. people SUFFERING in this world from knowledge, or lack there of, I should say… 1. All children of God are beautiful little miracles, no matter the gender, race, color, OR # of chromosomes!…etc. He does not create mistakes! 2. If you haven’t heard, people who have Down syndrome, or any other “disability” for that matter, get this… they are in fact PEOPLE TOO! just the same as you or I..made up of feelings and emotions, abilities and attributes, likes and dislikes…etc. and are just as much a part of and have just as much right to this little thing called “life” as anyone else. In my opinion, anyone who thinks otherwise are the ones with the true “disability”. 3. For those of you who comment on things you have absolutely NO knowledge of.. If in the future you do choose to comment on ANYTHING, it’d probably be in your best interest to read up on the subject at hand, so as not to portray yourself as a complete ignoramous.. or feel regret when come time to meet your maker.. In the meantime, I’ll pray for you.. ;) God=Love ..Ramona

What’s sickening is that they say it’s ‘tragic’ if the children have Down Syndrome, and to already start tearing the children apart at such an early age. No WONDER their publishing company is going bankrupt since apparently they have to resort to stuff like this to get a dime. Not that this is new territory for them, but really – babies?

I think that society needs to grow up and stop paying attention to celebrities. What’s next, Paris Hilton or Lindsey Lohan give advice on childhood dicipline? Society also has to learn to accept difference in people, but that does not mean accepting negative lifestyles. When I was in my senior year of high school, I had a brief friendship with a Down’s girl. She was about my height(5’9″), weighted about 90-120 pounds, and was physically attractive. She would not be the degenerate who would write diatribe like national Enquirer articals. People like her show us values that have been lost by society such as unconditional love and the meaning of love itself. Children are people in their own rights, it is not natural to play God with them just to make us feel better about ourselves.

      Don’t believe everything you hear!
This magazine is extremely unreliable over all and consistently publishes false information
@Ashleypmo: I do not think they are saying that having down syndrome is sickening but rather that making up lies and targeting children is a practice that is both pernicious and cannot be tolerated.
In reality, no one has the right to judge and make assumptions based on one picture, please be more Skeptical and do not trust every source.

Their twins are beautiful .If I were them, I would sue that terrible rag of a paper. They have nothing better to do.Are you people all doctors ? They have round baby faces and their eyes are not closed and slanted upwards .Leave them alone. All you people, that think just because they are in the public eye that gives you the right to bad mouth them, you don’t even know them. They work for a living ,like most of us and they need babysitters like most of us do, to mind the children when they work, just like most of the parents today. So, what’s all the bad mouthing going on.Is it ,that you are jealous that you ae not talented and lucky enough to have their money to do what they want ,when they want and with whom they want . Stop believing everything you read in the trashy papers.Get a life .Do something with your life .
