Melissa Huckaby, a 29 year-old Sunday school teacher, pled guilty to the kidnap and murder of the 8 year-old Sandra Cantu, who was a playmate of her younger daughter back last year.

Melissa was accused of kidnapping, raping and killing the little girl then stuffing the body in a suitcase, which was found on an irrigation pond ten days after Sandra’s disappearance. Other charges of rape, lewd or lascivious conduct with a child, which would made Melissa eligible for the death penalty, were dropped as part of the plea deal.

Previous charges regarding the drugging of a 7 year-old girl and 37 year-old man, who Melissa was allegedly dating were also dropped. Melissa faces a sentence of 25 years to life in jail without possibility of parole. The sentence will be announced on June 14.
