Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks, Taylor Hicks and Kris Allen were all there with the exception of season 7 winner David Cook. Why wasn’t David Cook there?

David had already scheduled an appearance at a charity event in his hometown of Kansas City and wasn’t able to be there, but he tweeted his congrats to the new Idol winner, Lee Dewyze: “Congrats to Lee DeWyze! So sorry I could be there to see all my fellow idols. I’m there in spirit!”
