Tony Kusian Dumped Crystal Bowersox Before Idol Finale (PHOTOS, Video)

American Idol season 9 runner-up Crystal Bowersox has revealed that she and her boyfriend, Tony Kusian, who publicly supported her during the live shows, broke up right before the final performances on Tuesday morning (May 25).

“[My boyfriend] Tony, he went home. He wasn’t cool with the lifestyle,” the Elliston, Ohio, native revealed Thursday morning on Ryan Seacrest‘s 102.7 KIIS-FM radio show. (watch video below)

“We’re both logical, grown adults,” she said. “He’s a small town guy and it’s fine. But I’m a small town girl but I want this. I want this more than anything — this career, this lifestyle. I didn’t think he was up for it. He didn’t think he was up for it.”

According to Crystal, the decision to call it quits was mutual but the truth is Tony is a small town boy and he did not like her new superstar lifestyle. Kara DioGuardi advised Crystal to follow her dreams and find a man who can understand her and be with her every step of the way.

Crystal said, “I was a little sad that he did it on performance day, but then again it set that fire to my belly.” This clearly affected Mama Sox and she left her heart on that stage with three fantastic performances.
