Golden Girls Temptress Rue McClanahan Dead at 76
Famed actress Rue McClanahan, who played Blanche Deveraux (she was the horny one) on the Golden Girls, has passed away at the age of 76 from a stroke. Her health had been fragile since suffering a minor stroke earlier this year.
She passed away at 1am this morning according to her spokeswoman Barbara Lawrence.
Rue McClanahan’s Son, Mark Bish Agreed To Turn Off Life Support
Rue was also a 13-year survivor of breast cancer.
Her death is saddening to the millions of Golden Girls fans who fell in love with Rue, Betty White, Bea Arthur, and Estelle Getty during the shows successful run from 1985-1992 and in syndication.
McClanahan was also famous for her roles on Mama’s Family and Maude.

WHAT A LIFE TO CELEBRATE.i HAVE GROWN UP WATCHING GOLDEN GIRLS IM 43 AND STILL WATCH RERUNS. The Sassy,sophistacated,free spirted and self assured character that Ms Rue potrayed was my favorite.
I am one of millions of fans of Rue McClanahan and the Golden Girls. I still have the daily routine of watching the news and then watching reruns after the news of Golden Girls (sometimes 3 or 4 in a row). Rue McClanahan has given the world so much of herself, and her acting made us believe that we were one of the “Girls” and gave a true representation of life. no matter how funny or absurd. Thanks to her and to her family for sharing her with us.
Never will there be a more joyous complex woman. An intoxicating blend of innocence and lust….polish and pizazz…rest in peace Rue. You will live forever in our hearts and in reruns of the best show ever made…Golden Girls.
