Country star Kellie Pickler and her boyfriend, songwriter Kyle Jacobs are officially engaged to be married. Kyle decided to propose on a Florida beach at sunset on June 15, a day marked by sadness for the singer since it was the birthday of her late grandmother, Faye Pickler.

“It turned out to be the most amazing day of my life,” the fifth-season American Idol star, 23, tells People. “My whole world changed. We both feel like we got my grandmother’s blessing.”

The two shared a very special day on the beach. “Afterward, we just held each other and had the most beautiful prayer,” Jacobs says. “We had a little champagne and talked and laughed and cried.”

It also doesn’t come close to meeting the definition of child porn, one expert said. “The picture is not prosecutable,” former Los Angeles sex crimes prosecutor Robin Sax said. “It is a question of intent, and here the picture is taken on stage, in public, and its purpose is not child pornography. Tennis star James Blake, who was just coming back from an injury and is actually considering the possibility of retiring at the age of 30 after the US Open, had to ask ESPN analyst/former tennis player Pam Shriver to speak more quietly during his first and last match at 2010 Wimbledon Championship on Tuesday (June 22).

Blake is far from his best. He shamefully lost the match against Robin Haase in three sets (6-2, 6-4, 6-4), but not before getting into a not-so-polite verbal exchange with Pam, who was very disrespectful to the player and the game (watch video below). Here’s how it went down:

“Usually, if you haven’t played, or only played one or two matches, you’re actually quite eager,” she said during a point. “You might not be match-tough, you might miss a lot of shots, but mentally you’re not burned out.”

Perfect. Blake is burned out after coming back from an injury. Two problems: Shriver speaks loudly. Shriver wasn’t far from the court.

“Amazing you used to play tennis,” Blake yelled up at her. “I can still hear you.”

And then he went on to the next point. Note, he wasn’t complaining about what she said, only that she was too loud. Up to there, no harm, no foul. Just an accident. But then Shriver got defensive during the next point.

“James just yelled at me,” she said, not talking any quieter, clearly wanting Blake to hear her again. “I’m way above the court, but evidently he can hear me. He’s got rabbit ears.”

Yes, he can hear you. And he’s playing at Wimbledon. The normal response would have been to whisper. “You have to be an a$$ about it, too?” Blake yelled after the next point. “And act like I’m at fault.”

And Shriver was offended again. “And there he is, talking again,” she said.

Even I want to scream, “SHUT UP, Pam!” This woman is supposed to know how these things can affect a player. Pam should have also been escorted out of court.

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld called controversial yet highly successful musical artist Lady GaGa a “jerk” on New York radio Monday.  GaGa sat in Jerry’s box at the New York Mets game over the weekend after flipping photographers off from her front row seat.

Perhaps GaGa or her people should have asked Kramer’s BFF first:

“This woman is a jerk. I hate her,” Seinfeld said during a WFAN radio interview on Monday, perhaps . “I can’t believe they put her in my box, which I paid for.”

The aging Seinfeld didn’t stop there as he continued to blast GaGa for using all means of publicity and exposure to further her current popularity.

“I don’t know what these young people think or how they promote their careers,” Seinfeld said. “I’m older, I’m 56. I look at Lady Gaga the way Keith Hernandez watches these kids when they pull the pocket out, they wear the inside-out pocket. … Do you think he understands that? He can’t understand that. That’s a new game, that’s kids.”

He added, “I’m not one of these all-publicity-is-good people. People talk about you need exposure — you could die of exposure.”

I hate to agree with the old man, but I tend to agree with  him on most of his rant about GaGa’s exposure and over-exposure.  Part of it is the world we live in today – the competition is that tough, along with the countless distractions and devices fawning for our attention and coin.  I am old school though, in the thought, that if you are talented and can sing or perform then you don’t have to always do more and more to shock the public into paying attention to you.
