“The Real L Word” star couple, Nikki and Jill, who are busy planning their wedding on the new reality version of Showtime’s “The L Word”, reveal they are happy and in love. The tension between the two started growing in the second episode, but they claim editing is responsible for the “impression” of drama in their relationship, where none exists.

When Nikki is seen picking up Jill’s male BFF, Derek, who she dated in the past, she orders him to “Take your shirt off!” Then there’s Jill and Derek hugging, while Nikki watches from across the street. The truth is Nikki only tells Derek to take is shirt off because he got a new tattoo and Jill hugs him when they arrive since she didn’t have the opportunity to do it at the airport. And Nikki is not spying on them. She was just taking a business call.
“Derek had just gotten a tattoo in Thailand and I said to him, ‘Take your shirt off, I’ve gotta see the tattoo,’” Jill explains. “But all you hear me say is ‘Take your shirt off.’”
“I was on the phone with a client and found out I didn’t get this project and I was like, ‘Aaaaaahhh.’ And that’s the shot they used,” Nikki explains. “You missed the phone. All you see is my reaction!”
“We are having a live stream webcast after the second show and I am going to address it,” Nikki adds.
Nikki and Jill are happy and consider their lives as busy lesbians in Hollywood pretty boring. They are on a mission to show the world their relationship is just as normal as a heterosexual relationship.
“After Nikki asked my father for permission to marry me, he said he needed a minute,” Jill says. “He spent a week and a half with us and really got to know us as a couple and the whole gay thing just slipped away. I thought, ‘What if we could do this on a larger scale?’”
These reality shows are made to boost ratings and if everybody is normal and boring, then what’s the point. The sneaky editing to create drama and exaggerate certain incidents is done for entertainment, but it can actually have serious consequences in the real lives of these reality stars.
