The vuvuzela, which is loved by some and hated by many, is an annoying horn traditionally played during soccer games in South Africa, the country hosting this year’s World Cup.

FIFA decided not to ban the vuvuzela because of its traditional significance, even though it makes almost impossible to enjoy a soccer match without the friendly ear plugs unless you want to go deaf. Olympic ice skater Scott Hamilton just underwent brain surgery to remove a recurrence of a benign tumor near his pituitary gland, which first appeared back in 2004, on Wednesday (June 23). Scott should be home next week and is expected to make a full recovery.

“They’re happy with the progress of the entry process, and now [doctors] can begin to get rid of the tumor,” the figure skater’s rep, Michelle Thornbury, tells People of the procedure, which was halfway completed Wednesday morning.

The 51 year-old, who beat testicular cancer back in 1997, discovered he had a benign tumor, called craniopharyngioma in 2004 and chose to treat it with Gamma Knife, a more specific procedure that bombards the tumor with gamma radiation. They were able to destroy the tumor and prevented Scott from going blind.

Scott has been married to his wife Tracie for the past 9 years and the they have two sons, Aiden, 6, and Maxx, 2. We wish Scott a quick and full recovery.

NFL Hall Of Famer Lawrence Taylor was officially indicted on rape charges related to an incident with an underage prostitute in a Holiday Inn in New York on May 6, 2010.

Lawrence, who was charged with sexual abuse, endangering the welfare of a child, and patronizing a prostitute, claims he did not know the girl was underage and they did not engage in sexual intercourse. The 51 year-old is planning to use the masturbation defense.

Lawrence’s agent says their legal team “made a strategic decision to not put any of our evidence in front of the grand jury. We look forward to presenting our evidence at the appropriate time.”

New York Mets star Johan Santana was accused of sexual battery by a woman (identified only as “Jane Doe”) who had sexual intercourse with the pitcher in a golf course in Fort Myers, Florida back in October 28, 2009.

The accuser claims she told Johan to stop several times, but he continued his sexual advances towards her against her will. According to the police report, Johan “began to kiss her and pull up her top, unclasping her bra.”

“Johan began to pull at [the accuser's] skirt/skort and attempt [sic] to place his hands into her underwear.” The report gets nasty, when the accuser claims Johan penetrated her, grabbed and bruised her calf, and “ejaculated on her upper thigh.” The woman claims to have cleaned herself with her underwear and returned to tennis court to watch him play tennis.

Police collect the evidence, which proved there was intercourse, but was not enough to prove lack of consent, therefore no criminal charges were filed and the case was closed on December 8, 2009.

Johan’s rep told TMZ, “Johan denied the charges and was never charged with anything. As far as the law enforcement side of this goes, the case is closed.”

President Barack Obama decided to relieve General Stanley McChrystal of his duties as Nato commander in Afghanistan over the comments that mocked the commander-in-chief, Vice-President Joe Biden and Richard Holbrooke published in a Rolling Stone Magazine article (read more details here). McChrystal will be replaced by General David Petraeus.

“I think it’s clear that the article in which he and his team appeared showed poor judgment,” Obama said. The 55 year-old General apologized for the remarks and submitted his resignation to the President. Obama had the chance to confront McChrystal before he made his decision.

Obama claims the decision to relieve McChrystal was not based on policy differences or a “personal insult,” but because “the conduct represented in the recently published article does not meet the standard that should be set by a commanding general.”

McChrystal says in statement he resigned because of his “desire to see the mission succeed.”

Prince Albert II of Monaco, who was considered one of world’s most eligible bachelors, and his longtime girlfriend, South African former swimmer Charlene Wittstock are finally officially engaged to be married (more pictures below).

“Everyone here is extremely, extremely happy,” the palace said. The 52 year-old Prince, son of the late film star Grace Kelly and the late Rainer III, Prince of Monaco, and the 32 year-old former schoolteacher have been dating for almost four years but have not set the date yet.
