Portuguese soccer stud Cristiano Ronaldo, who just said goodbye to the World Cup in South Africa, decided to publicly announce via his official Twitter and Facebook accounts that he is the father of a baby boy. GASP!

Cristiano also declared that he is going to raise the kid by himself becoming a single dad at the age of 25! The identity of the baby’s mother was not revealed, and she most probably received a whole lot of money to stay quiet.

Cristiano announced, “It is with great joy and emotion that I inform I have recently become father to a baby boy. As agreed with the baby’s mother, who prefers to have her identity kept confidential, my son will be under my exclusive guardianship. No further information will be provided on this subject and I request everyone to fully respect my right to privacy (and that of the child) at least on issues as personal as these are.”

The baby news shocked the world, but Cristiano, who’s currently dating model Irina Shayk (photos here), dropped a couple of hints over the past few months. In an interview for Portugal’s “O Regresso Dos Incríveis” right before World Cup, the soccer star was asked if he wanted to have kids in the future because of his incredible relationship with his four nephews. Cristiano cryptically answered that he was closer to fatherhood than ever.

According to Bumpshack’s sources, the baby boy was born on June 17, 2010 and baby, daddy and the rest of the family are currently enjoying a wonderful vacation in Algarve, Portugal. The mother is reportedly an American woman, who signed papers giving Cristiano full custody of the baby boy, whose name remains unknown.

A soccer star like Cristiano spends a lot of time away from home, so who is going to take care of the baby? The grandmother! Cristiano’s family is really close. The mother, Maria Dolores, is the pillar of the Aveiro family and she is the one who will be making sure the kid gets the proper care and education.
