Former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher’s wife, Kaye Cowher, passed away after losing a battle against skin cancer in North Carolina on Friday (July 23). Kaye was 54 years old (more pictures below).

Bill and Kaye Young met at North Carolina State University, where he played football and Kaye and her twin sister, Faye Young, played basketball, back in 1976. The twins won the Atlantic Coast Conference’s first women’s basketball title in 1978.

Kaye and Bill have three daughters, Meagan, Lauren and Lindsay, whom have followed their mother’s footsteps and have been standout basketball players. The family asked for privacy in this difficult period of mourning. A funeral service for Kaye will he held in North Carolina on Monday (July 26).
