An iconic photo from the set of 1984′s Conan The Destroyer of Wilt Chamberlain, Arnold Schwarzenneger, and Andre ‘The Giant’ Roussimoff.
The greatest basketball player of all-time, governor of California, and most beloved professional wrestler of all-time all in the same photo.
Sadly, Arnold is the only one of the three still living. He is serving out his last term as the governor of California. He first rose to fame as winning bodybuilding’s prestigious Mr. Olympia title 7x before going on to an extremely successful movie career.
Wilt passed away from heart failure in 1999 at the age of 63.
Wilt was 48-years old at the time of this photo and still in immaculate condition. Do you think Shaquille O’Neal will look this good at 48? Nevermind, Shaq was never in this good of condition even during the pinnacle of his career.
Andre died early as well at the age of 46 from a heart attack in France.
Andre was nicknamed ‘The 8th Wonder of the World.’ He stood 7’4″ tall and weighed 500 pounds.
In comparison Wilt was 7’1″ (some say he was actually taller) and a chiseled 275 lbs for his ENTIRE life. He was offered a contract to play again in the NBA after his retirement several times, the last time when he was 50-years old. Wilt played professional beach volleyball after his retirement and was elected into the sport’s Hall-0f-Fame.
Arnold at the height of his bodybuilding success was 6’2″ and 250 lbs.
Andre, in addition to Conan, also appeared as Fezzik in The Princess Bride and in Trading Mom (released after his death).
An iconic photo for sure!
