NHRA dragster driver Mark Niver died after a high-speed crash when the parachutes on his vehicle “ripped off” right on deploy, preventing him from stopping before the lethal crash during the Northwest Nationals near Seattle on Sunday (July 11)- watch video below.

Mark apparently died immediately when the dragster hit the net and it buckled the chassis back into the driver cockpit. The event was delayed for about an hour to investigate the crash.

The 60 year-old driver, who was very experienced and known for building his own cars and engines, won two national event victories in Top Alcohol Dragster, including 2008 at Seattle. R.I.P. Mark Niver.

Gospel singer/pastor Walter Hawkins passed away at his home in Ripon, California on Sunday (July 11) after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 61 years old.

Edwin Hawkins said, “Today, I lost my brother, my pastor, and my best friend. Bishop Hawkins suffered bravely but now he will suffer no more and he will be greatly missed.”

Walter recorded his debut album, “Do Your Best”, while he was studying at the University of California back in 1972. He won a Grammy Award for Best Gospel Performance for “The Lord’s Prayer” compilation in 1981 and his 1990 album, “Love Alive III”, was on top of the Billboard gospel album sales chart for more than 34 weeks.

Walter Hawkins was inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame three years ago in 2007. Walter is survived by two children and two grandchildren. R.I.P. Walter Hawkins.

Director Sam Taylor-Wood and her fiancé, actor Aaron Johnson welcomed a healthy baby girl named Wylda Rae in south London, England on Wednesday (July 7). This is Aaron’s first child, but Sam already has two daughters with ex-husband, art dealer Jay Jopling.

A rep for the couple said in a statement, “Sam Taylor-Wood and Aaron Johnson are happy to announce the birth of their daughter Wylda Rae, who was born yesterday, July 7, in London.”

The 43 year-old director and 20 year-old actor met and started to get to know each other on the set of her movie “Nowhere Boy”, where Aaron portrayed a young John Lennon. Sam and Aaron announced their engagement on the night of the movie’s premiere in October 2009 and confirmed they were expecting their first child together back in January.

Jesse Jackson, in a surprise to no one, took advantage of the LeBron James saga to say something ludicruis and claim some media attention for himself.

Jackson has called out Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert for his open letter to LeBron James when James spurned the Cavs to join the Miami Heat.

Jesse Jackson’s Radical Racial Comments About Dan Gilbert:

“He speaks as an owner of LeBron and not the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers. His feelings of betrayal personify a slave master mentality. He sees LeBron as a runaway slave.”

He goes on, “LeBron is not a child, nor is he bound to play on Gilbert’s plantation and be demeaned. He has been a model citizen and has inspired the children of Akron, Cleveland, the State of Ohio and the United States.”

Jesse, Gilbert’s letter to James had nothing to do with race, slavery, plantations, or human trafficking.  Gilber’s letter spoke summed up how almost all Cavs fans felt upon hearing of James decision to leave them on a nationally televised one-hour LeBacle.

Jackson has done some good things in his life, and in the Civil Rights movement, but he more often than not hijacks corporations, individuals, and others to make himself newsworthy or for his own financial gain.

Jesse is the same man that was caught on an open mic during the 2008 Presidential campaign saying he wanted to cut Barack Obama’s nuts off.

The New York Yankees legendary public address announcer Bob Sheppard, who was nicknamed “The Voice Of God”, has passed away on Sunday (July 11) after being seriously ill since the late of the 2007 season, when he had a bronchial infection. Bob was 99 years old.

Pat Hanlon, Giants spokesman, tweeted, “The Good Lord and His Voice are together…Bob Sheppard passed away this AM at age of 99…rest in peace, Bob. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bob’s wife Mary and their family; as she always has been, Mary was at his side this AM when Bob passed. None of us would feel the way we do about Yankee Stadium or Giants Stadium if it had not been for Bob Sheppard…”

Actor Lou Taylor Pucci, best known for roles in movies like “Fast Food Nation” and “Brotherhood”, was the victim of a random and brutal act of violence outside of one of his friends’ house in Belmar, New Jersey on July 3 – WARNING: Graphic Pictures below.

Lou Taylor was attacked by one of four men walking past him, who knocked him out cold and broke five bones in his face. The assailant run on foot and has not been identified or captured. The 24 year-old actor had a titanium plate put in his face since one of his bones was completely crushed in the attack. Absolutely incredible and scary! No one is ever safe!

American Idol Carrie Underwood married her hockey player beau Mike Fisher in a private ceremony with 200 guests, which reportedly cost more than $500,000, at the Ritz Carlton Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Georgia on Saturday (July 10).

Carrie wore a Chantilly lace Monique Lhuillier gown and she and Mike exchanged vows under a lakeside tent. “We could not feel more blessed to have found each other and to have shared this day with our friends and family that mean so much to us!” the newlyweds said in a statement they signed “Mike & Carrie Fisher.”

The bridezilla hired a wedding planner, but she was also totally involved with the details of her big day, while the groom took care of the honeymoon plans. Carrie has no idea where they will spend their honeymoon.

“I bought a lot of magazines and am cutting out pictures,” she told Us in January. “I have a folder and I cut out pictures and glue them in. It’s in kind of a binder thing.”

“[Planning] that [honeymoon] was Mike’s project,” she said at the CMA Fest last month.
“It’s a surprise. I have no clue where we are going, which is nice. I know it will be warm, that’s about it.”
