Snooki Denied Trademark for Nickname
Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi of Jersey Shore was denied by government officials after she applied to have her famous name trademarked. According to The Smoking Gun, records show that registration of a “Snooki” trademark for “printed matter, namely books” was recently refused because of a “likelihood of confusion” with a previously issued trademark: The 2004 children’s book Adventures of Snooky. The story is about a family cat who gets thrown overboard on a fishing trip.

Here’s a description of the book:
“Join Snooky as he makes many new friends searching for his family under the sea. Find out what happens when Snooky’s new friends run into danger. Can he help save them? Will Snooky ever find his lost family?”
Sounds like Snookers at the Jersey shore to me!

The Smoking Gun added that Snooki may earn the approval to trademark “Snooki” for “entertainment in the nature of personal appearances by a television personality.”
Nice try, Snookz.
