Actress Patricia Neal, who won an Academy Award for her role in the 1963 movie “Hud”, died after a long battle with lung cancer surrounded by her family at her Martha’s Vineyard home in Edgartown, Massachusetts on Sunday (August 8). She was 84 years old.

Patricia had a very complicated life marked by tragedy. She was married with British writer Roald Dahl, with whom she had five children, for more than 30 years. The actress reportedly had an affair with her “The Fountainhead” and “Bright Leaf” co-star Gary Cooper.

“I almost died many times from broken hearts -… when my daughter Olivia died, when my baby son Theo was hit by a car, and when I had my strokes. There were many who didn’t think I would pull through,” said Neal in her biography.

“I had to have an operation that lasted seven hours, and I know very well my doctor thought I would conk out in the middle of it; but as I told him later, we Tennessee hillbillies don’t conk that easy, so I stayed alive.”

“I’ve learned many lessons in life, but the most important is this – be tenacious and determined, even in old age,” said Neal. “I don’t like getting older. I thought I would, but it has turned out differently than I expected. Lately I’ve had both my shoulder and my knee replaced. So, what should I be happy about? I’ll tell you – it is nice to be able to get these things fixed!”

Sandra delivered a fun acceptance speech and invited actress Betty White, who “hasn’t been a teen since 1919”, onto the stage. Betty and Sandra shook their booties to the sound of Lil Jon’s “Get Low”. Hilarious!

“I don’t know if you should bring attention to this. Some things are better left unsaid. It’s been awhile since I was a teen,” she said. “I’m so blessed and lucky. The Blind Side – I got to meet so many good people, so many good lessons I took away from it.”

“I was worried about her [Betty White] fitting in but that’s not the problem,” Bullock said. “The problem is she was supposed to jump in on my line, so Betty get your ass out on this stage!”

Congratulations to Sandra, who had quite a difficult year after the Jesse James’ cheating scandal broke. The actress was forced to cancel her appearance at the Kids’ Choice Awards earlier this year, but she is finally back in the spotlight and looking better than ever!

Former “Price Is Right” model, Shane Stirling, has filed a lawsuit in LA County Superior Court on Friday (August 6), claiming Bob Barker forced her out of the show after she announced she was pregnant in December 2006.

Shane says she was “forced into an early pregnancy leave, was not allowed to return to work for almost a year after her child’s birth, and was fired abruptly.” She blames Bob since he completely changed the way he treated her when he learned she was expecting.

Bob allegedly told Shane, she was “dangerous” and a “liability” … an advised her to “go home and take care of your baby.” She was not allowed to work while she was pregnant. Shane finally returned to the show in 2008, but was soon fired with the explanation the show was “going in another direction”.

Shane is suing for more than $25,000, declaring that if she had “been allowed to return to work sooner after having her baby, she could have become acquainted with the new people working on the game show and thereby would have had a better chance to retain her job.”

This is not the first pregnant woman to claim to have been discriminated while working on Bob’s “Price Is Right”. Former TV model, Brandi Cochran, also sued the show for a miscarriage she had as a result of stress and abuse by staffers.

Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley, singer Avril Lavigne’s ex-husband, was reportedly hospitalized after being attacked by three unidentified men at a bar in Japan on Thursday (August 5). The band was in the country to perform at the Summer Sonic rock festival.

The band kept their fans updated on Deryck’s condition via popular social networking sites, Twitter and Facebook. They first tweeted, “Deryck Whibley was attacked in a bar last night by 3 unknown people. He is in the hospital now. Japanese police are looking into the matter.”

Sum 41 posted the following message on their Facebook page, “It is unfortunate to say, but Deryck Whibley is still in the hospital. He was attacked late last night in Japan. We are waiting for results and we are hoping for the best. Thanks for your support.”

On Friday night (August 6), their latest update read, “Deryck Whibley Update: After an MRI scan, it appears Deryck has slipped a disc in his back once again. Despite doctor’s instructions, he has decided to play today’s show at Summersonic regardless. Sum 41 will perform at 3:40pm.”

Poor Deryck can’t catch a break. This violent incident comes days after the Sum 41 announced they had to cancel Warped Tour stops in Chicago and Kansas City because Deryck had come down with bronchitis. We wish Deryck a quick and full recovery!

“Lord Of The Rings” star Sean Bean and his fourth wife, Georgina Sutcliffe, are headed for divorce after being married for a little over two years. The couple tied the knot in February 2008 and Georgina just filed at London’s High Court, citing irreconcilable differences.

A few months after their marriage, the two reportedly had one nasty argument and it turned violent, leading to the 51 year-old actor’s arrest. Georgina dropped the case and the “happy” couple announced they were trying to have a baby. Babies do not save marriages!

Georgina and Sean seemed to have been working things out and were involved in a new project together, a World War II adventure movie titled “Age Of Heroes”, before she “unexpectedly” filed for divorce.

American Idol Fantasia Barrino reportedly has a compromising homemade X-rated video with her new lover, Antwaun Cook, who is still married to Paula Cook (photos/video below). The woman filed for child support against her estranged husband and accused him of having a sordid affair with the Idol.
