Rapper Eminem kicked off the show with an incredible performance of the hit “Not Afraid” and was joined on stage by Rihanna for a short rendition of “Love The Way You Lie” at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California on Sunday (September 12)- watch video below.

Rihanna almost fooled us. The Rater R singer said that she wouldn’t be able to make it because she was filming “Battleship” in Hawaii, but she ended up gracing us with her presence. Rihanna tweeted, “SURPRISE!!!….just had to do it guys.”
