Former NFL star/TV analyst Shannon Sharpe announced that he would take a leave of absence from his CBS Sports gig amid reports that he stalked, sexually assaulted and threatened to kill a woman named Michele Bundy (pictures below), who was granted a temporary restraining order.
Shannon is not allowed to contact Michele or her immediate family and must stay at least 200 yards away from her at all times. The 42 year-old has not been arrested or charged with a crime yet, but he is scheduled for a hearing at the County Superior Court in Atlanta on Monday (September 20).
“I have decided to step aside from the NFL Today until this matter is resolved,” Sharpe said in a statement.
CBS Sports Senior Vice President of Communications LeslieAnne Wade said on behalf of the network: “We accept Shannon’s decision and decline to comment further on a pending legal matter.”
According to legal documents, Michele claims Shannon forced her to have sexual relations with him and basically continuously stalked her with several phone calls to say “he is watching her”. Shannon is also accused of threatening Michele’s life. These are some pretty serious accusations for someone who is currently being considered for induction in the Hall of Fame.
