“Titanic” Star Gloria Stuart Dead At 100

Actress Gloria Stuart, best known for her role as an older version of Kate Winslet’s Rose in “Titanic”, died of lung cancer at the age of 100 years old on Sunday (September 26). Gloria had just celebrated her 100th birthday on July 4, 2010.

Gloria appeared in more than 40 films back in the 1930s, which includes movies like “The Invisible Man“, “Gold Diggers of 1935“, “The Prisoner of Shark Island” and “Poor Little Rich Girl“. Gloria released a memoir titled “I Just Kept Hoping” in 1999, in which she described herself as a late-bloomer after she was finally nominated for an Oscar for her role in James Cameron’s Titanic.

The actress had been diagnosed with lung cancer about two years ago, according to her daughter Sylvia Thompson. Gloria is survived by daughter Sylvia, four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
