Effective Oct. 1st, The Rachel Zoe Project‘s dynamic style duo Rachel Zoe and assistant Brad Goreski have decided to go their separate ways, according to an interview in the new issue of PEOPLE.

In the interview, Brad spilled the beans about his departure.

“I love Rachel and she’s taught me everything I know,”

“But there’s a point where either I do it now or I’ll never know what it’s like to spread my wings and soar.”

Rachel said that when her assistant broke the news to her it was a very emotional moment:

“We couldn’t stop hugging and we couldn’t stop crying,”

“He did this with such class and elegance. And I get it. I just told him, ‘I’m here for you always.’”

As for the future, Rachel says Brad is virtually irreplaceable.

“I don’t want to hire somebody for the purpose of the show, we just got lucky. No one’s ever going to be Brad to me.”

Sad news for fans of the show, but great news for Brad. I think he’s more than ready to stand on his own two feet. Maybe his own show? We’ll see…
