Why Did JJ (A. J. Cook) Leave Criminal Minds?
Actress A.J. Cook is saying goodbye to her role as Special Agent Jennifer Jareau aka JJ in the CBS crime drama “Criminal Minds” after five successful seasons. Executive producer Simon Mirren hinted that both actress and character would be moving on to another job, facing more difficult challenges.
“We’ve always intimated that JJ’s character has connections outside of our world – other more powerful elements in the government,” he told TV Guide. “Those powers that she’s connected with come back into her life. So basically, what we’re saying is, our loss is going to be somebody else’s gain.”
A.J. promised she will return to the show during this season to tie up her character’s story. “Thanks for your undying support but it’s a done deal,” she told fans via Twitter. “I’ll be doing 2 eps to wrap up JJ. Excited for what’s next and hope you’ll come along!”

It was a big mistake to fire JJ. She and Prentiss show a kinder gentle presence. The men are goodby the are portrayed as more hard-nosed and not as approachable. JJ seemed to inderstand Spencer better than anyone. This will probably be the beginning of the end od the show. Some women May feel show is trying to say that women are not as efficient as men in these types of roles.
Ah, shucks. She was good in her role. She helped soften the character and/or the victums? families. Get her back.

This is bad, sad and down right disappointment!!! We have watched other awesome series change the team members that got the high ratings and not long after that the program takes a hit in the ratings. We want her back!!!!!
I hated to see JJ go but my opinion is that criminal minds is such a wonderful show and it will survive, I am a proud mother of 3 beautiful daughters, and 5 grandchildren and I worry about each one of them. Watching Criminal Minds, and we all do! Shows them what sick people do out there, and they really are out there, I love it that its not so graphic to where you can sit your young children down to watch it, and it don’t scare them, however, it makes them wiser. So keep up the great work.

What is wrong with the people who made this decision to let AJ Cook go? This has been one of my favorite shows since the beginning. I was sorry to see Mandy Patinkin (Gideon) go -and
although, Joe Montegna is fine – lacks the intensity of Mandy – but letting AJ Cook go was just stupid! The show just hasn’t been as good since!!
With the plot indicating she was moving on to a better position, I actually thought that perhaps she was moving on to a spin-off that would interact with the BAU.
What a shame that you are ruining this show – it was one of the best on TV. Someone is truly an imbecile!

criminal minds is such a fantastic show because of the exelent story lines and the brilliant actors that make it so enjoyable so please dont mess about with the cast because that is the glue that makes it so fantastic we all know the team and to remove a main player cannot be a good move if its not broken dont mess with it
A J Cook was very spectacular on the show and she will be missed, but after seeing last wednesdays show I do believe it will survive very well.
They should have canned Shemar Moore and Kirsten Vangness. The unit is supposed to be all business and then you have these two with their “cutesy” dialogue; “hey baby girl, what can I do for you sugar?” If they want to show realization they would be brought up sexist remarks in the work place.

Agent Jareau added such dimension and emotion to the show. She balances the intense male characters and evil unsubs. She will be missed. I just do not understand how they can remove her normal, empathetic character. CBS will see that they will not be able to replace her. She has been on the show from the beginning and she understands each character as only she can. I’ve watched one episode with the possible replacement. I do not think so. She does not hold a candle to A.J. Cook.

A.J Cook and Paget brewster were great on the show, I loved all of the stars and hate to see a great cast braking apart like so many other show have done, if possible please bring back the best show on prime-time, if not you will began to see the rating fall drastically.
It was a BIG mistake to get rid of JJ. Please bring her and Emily back. The group worked so well together. The next thing you know they’ll be taking off Garcia, Morgan, and Hodge. Then I’m leaving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You guys see all of the comments wanting her back, you people need to learn to listen to the public!!! They know what they are talking about, BRING HER BACK!! We do NOT want a replacement….and DO NOT loose or let any of the other cast members go…changes are NOT always good, sometimes they ruin a good show anmd it ends up on the cutting block for a reason. Pay attention you blind tv Excecutives!! Leave our shows ALONE!!!!

I was shocked when I JJ left. My nephew Victor and I watch the show and he is very upset that JJ will not be there anymore. I am sure there will be some viewers that stop watching the show because of this.
