There were no surprises. Simon Cowell said goodbye last season. Ellen DeGeneres had quit and Kara DioGuardi was fired before the start of season 10. The new panel of judges includes the old dawg, Randy Jackson, who is the only survivor from previous seasons, and two new additions, pop star Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler.

The whole press conference was a major fiasco. The sound was absolutely terrible and we didn’t hear most of what was said on that stage, which has been considered a bad omen for the new season. I’d say they are doomed from the beginning and season 10 will most probably be the last season of American Idol.

In case you didn’t figure it out, Gnomeo & Juliet is an animated garden gnome remake of Shakespeare‘s Romeo & Juliet.

James McAvoy is the voice of Gnomeo, while Emily Blunt shares her sweet voice as Juliet.

Jason Statham, Michael Caine, Patrick Stewart, Matt Lucas, Maggie Smith, Stephen Merchant, and Ozzy Osbourne make up the voices of the other characters in the movie, which features songs by Elton John. Gnomeo & Juliet is directed by Kelly Asbury, who co-directed Shrek 2.

Should be pretty funny! I guess the purpose of this is to share Shakespeare with little ones, which can’t be a bad thing.

Gnomeo & Juliet is set for release Feb. 11, 2011– just in time for Valentine’s Day — which is a coincidence, I’m sure.

Atria Books announced today that Shania Twain has signed a deal to write her autobiography with them.

Shania will share stories about her impoverished childhood, death of her parents, and 2008 divorce from music producer, Robert “Mutt” Lange.

Shania and “Mutt” have a 9-year-old son together, Eja D’Angelo.

In a statement on her website, Shania said that she wanted to produce “an honest and complete account of my life, in my own words.”

“There are times in your life that are meant for reflection, and this was one of them. I began writing this book with a sincere respect for the past, present and future as something never to be taken for granted,”

The currently unnamed autobiography is set for release in Spring 2011.

Seems like she’ll have a lot on her plate with this book if she ever agrees to judge American Idol!

Ah, yes, they were. And now, that fight is over.

After SNL made fun of Kanye’s run-in with Taylor Swift in an opening monologue, the rapper dissed the sketch comedy show in his song “Power”, saying:

“F**k SNL and the whole cast / Tell ‘em Yeezy said they can kiss my whole a*s…”

Now it appears the drama king will be making an appearance on the show. He’s slated to be the musical guest on the October 2nd episode, which will be hosted by Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston. Kanye’s last appearance on the show was in December 2008.

Who was eliminated on Dancing With The Stars? There is no mercy for the twelve fantastic celebrity dancers and their professional dance partners. One pair/couple will be forced to leave the competition on the first week during the live results show on Tuesday (September 21).

“Dirty Dancing” star Jennifer Grey and her partner Derek Hough delivered the best performance on the first live show on Monday (September 20). Baby is finally back where she belongs – the dance floor! She deserves the mirrorball trophy simply for how wonderfully she danced last night. It was really magical.

The poorest performances of the night were delivered by Mike Sorrentino aka The Situation, who blamed his heavy feet on lack of time to rehearse, and David Hasselhoff, who had to be absolutely drunk to dance that Cha Cha. These two will be able to survive another week for entertainment reasons.

But, who will be in the bottom two on the first week? Margaret Cho is funny, but she is not taking this competition seriously. She might have even offended the judges with the comedic touches inserted in her dance routine. The other strong candidate to leave the show this week is Michael Bolton. I can’t even remember Michael’s performance… YAWN.

Nancy O’Dell has earned herself a sweet new gig as a host on one of Oprah‘s new television shows. The former Access Hollywood personality will be the new face for Your OWN Show: Oprah’s Search For The Next TV Star. Nancy will be joined by co-host Carson Kressley of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy fame.

The show will be focused on searching for a new television personality. It will feature ten finalists who are faced with challenges testing everything from their interview skills to how they appear on camera. The show will also feature a celebrity judge each week of competition.

Kressley said in a statement:

“I am so thrilled, grateful and excited to be a part of Your OWN Show. Not only do I get to inspire and be inspired by an amazing group of very talented contestants, I will also have the privilege of working with seasoned pros like Nancy O’Dell, Mark Burnett and of course, my hero, Oprah Winfrey. How lucky am I?”

The show is set to begin in January of 2011 along with the kick off of Oprah’s new network.

CNN is reporting that two men have filed lawsuits against Bishop Eddie L. Long for allegedly sexually (coercion) abusing them and other followers according to the lawsuit.

“Long shared a bedroom and engaged in intimate sexual contact with plaintiff Flagg including kissing, massaging, masturbating of plaintiff (Anthony) Flagg by defendant Long and oral sexual contact,” the suit says.

Long spokesman Art Franklin said Tuesday that “we categorically deny the allegations.”

Long is the Pastor/Bishop of Atlanta mega-church New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. The church membership has grown from 300 to over 25,000 since Long become pastor of the church in 1987.

Pastor Eddie is married to Vanessa Griffin Long, who is dubbed the First Lady of the Church.  The couple married in 1990.

UPDATE: The Bishop Eddie Long scandal continues to grow as more boys have come forward to file suit.

Nadya Suleman aka Octomom is going through a difficult financial crisis. The 35 year-old, who is in danger of losing her home to foreclosure and has fourteen mouths to feed, claims she will do anything to keep a roof over her kids’ heads, but she refuses to get naked.

Octomom might want to reconsider the possibility of becoming a major porn star. The foreclosure proceedings are already in motion since Nadya is behind about $7,500 on mortgage payments. The mother-of-fourteen also owes a whopping $450,000 balloon payment, which is due October 9. Where will Nadya get this amount of money?

“The Real Housewives of Orange County” star Tamra Barney’s estranged husband, Simon Barney, was arrested for domestic violence at around 12:30 am in Orange County, California on Tuesday (September 21).

Simon and Tamra, who are in the process of getting divorced, got into a heated argument over the custody of their pooch, when he reportedly hit her with the dog’s leash.

“He was angry and threw the leash at her and hit her with it,” a source with knowledge of the case told RadarOnline exclusively. “Their kids were in the house and started crying. It was a bad scene.”

“The leash hit Tamra. She wasn’t sure what to do,” the source added. “But she knew she couldn’t tolerate the violence. She called the cops.”

Simon was taken into custody and held on $10,000 bail. He reportedly texted Tamra later to try to explain the leash slipped out of his hands. Yeah, right! The couple was also fighting over one of their daughters’ birthday party because Simon wanted to celebrate the important date at a “neutral place”.

Tamra has moved on with her life. The housewife moved into a new house and she is currently dating Eddie Judge.

The New York Jets’ wide receiver Braylon Edwards was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI), having twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system, after his Range Rover was pulled over around 5:15 am in New York on Tuesday (September 21).

NY Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum says, “We are very disappointed in Braylon’s actions this morning … We are reviewing the information with the league and will impose the appropriate disciplinary measures.”

The 27 year-old is in big trouble with The Jets. Braylon had been at a charity event hosted by his teammate Jerrico Cotchery and he might have drunk one too many, but that is no excuse for his behavior since The Jets provide a car service for all their players.

The Jets players can get wasted all they want and just need call their private chauffer to drive them home safely. No kidding.
