Singer Florence Welch, from Florence + The Machine, promised to deliver a chaotic and explosive performance recreating the music video for the hit “Dog Days Are Over” on stage at the 27th Annual MTV Video Music Awards held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California on Sunday night (September 12).

Spontaneous human combustion will be part of the circus created on stage. Yep, Florence is going to make people explode right in front of our eyes without the help of the visual special effects, so she claims. Tricky!
“What we’re trying to do is kind of encapsulate the video into a live performance,” she told MTV. “Basically, the whole thing is just me arranging flowers, and then a load of people around me spontaneous combust, and that’s it. It’s going to be great.”
She continued: “It’s sort of energy and chaos. There’s people, like, actually physically exploding in the video, and hopefully that won’t happen. “If everyone’s really into it, that’s fine with me, but we haven’t planned it.”
Florence can’t be serious. Or the performance will be so childish and predictable that we will be utterly disappointed (watch “Dog Days Are Over” music video below). Anyhow, we are prepared to spontaneously combust, if she delivers the incredible number she promises.
The 24 year-old singer finally explained the meaning behind “The Machine”. She revealed, “The machine for the actual show is something kind of different – the machine is never supposed to be my band. It’s kind of everything and nothing.” Sure. Fine. Whatever.
