Musician Wyclef Jean, who had his dream of becoming the President of Haiti shattered after being disqualified, attacked Sean Penn, who was strongly against Wyclef’s candidature, claiming the actor uses cocaine during a performance of his 2004 song “If I Was President” at a Hot 97 concert over the weekend (watch video below).
Wyclef changed the lyrics to his song to send Sean this lame and childish message: “I got a message for Sean Penn: Maybe he ain’t see me in Haiti because he was too busy sniffing cocaine. I got a message for Praswell, even though you don’t want to support me, I got love for you, even though you only kicked 8 bars in the Fugees.”
Former Fugees bandmate Pras was also mentioned. Someone is a very sore loser, but this incident shows Wyclef is certainly not ready to be a President. Sean Penn quickly responded to these immature allegations, releasing the following statement:
“Mr. Jean is clearly unfamiliar with the physical demands put upon volunteers in Haiti. As aid workers there, the notion of depleting the body’s immune system thru the use of illicit drugs is ludicrous. More specifically, J/P Haitian Relief Organization (a.k.a. JPHRO) has a ZERO tolerance policy for any and all illegal drugs. As the leader of this organization, Sean Penn has not only set this policy, but adheres to it. That Mr. Jean would make such a false accusation is reckless and saddening, but not surprising.”
Two words for Wyclef: shut up! If you cannot make good music, the type that is capable of uniting people, then just stop using it to create war (albeit verbal wars) and disappear for awhile to clear your head. Sean should probably take legal action against the former “Fugee”.
