Monday, the White House and the Discovery Channel announced that President Barack Obama is scheduled to appear on Mythbusters December 8th to discuss a myth surrounding an ancient weapon of mass destruction.

Obama, who is the first sitting President to ever appear on late-night talk shows, has recently made the rounds on channels such as ESPN and MTV, unlike previous Presidents who were much more comfortable sticking to the news.

On the show, which is based on exposing historical and scientific tales, the President asks if the show’s hosts can get to the bottom of the myth that Greek scientists set fire to an invading Roman fleet by using mirrors to reflect rays of the sun.

Mythbusters attracts about 13 million viewers per week, and is popular with the 9-14 year old age range.

‘The Hangover‘ was so wildly popular, it only makes sense that Warner Bros. would cash in their chips for ‘The Hangover 2‘.

And since Mel Gibson is so wildly unpopular, maybe a hit movie will help to redeem him with the public? Maybe?

Probably not.

But the deal has been done anyway — Mel Gibson will have a cameo in the Hangover sequel, due out May 26, 2011.

Of Gibson’s cameo, Moviefone says:

“He’ll be playing a Bangkok tattoo artist who (presumably) the boys encounter at some point during another wacky, dirty, foul-mouthed adventure through Thailand. The paper notes that part of their Thailand trip will be shot on the Warners lot before production moves to Thailand later this month.”

Interesting.

Speaking of “wacky, dirty, foul-mouthed,” I wonder if we’ll get some of Gibson’s signature racial slurs?

Can’t wait to check out The Hangover 2, even though I don’t think it will do anything to pull Mel out of the deep hole he’s dug.

Singer Celine Dion, who is currently eight months pregnant with twin boys, has just checked herself into St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida this morning (Monday, October 18).

The 42 year-old will remain hospitalized in an effort to prevent a premature birth of the much-anticipated and desired babies and in order to feel more secure as she is monitored by her doctors until delivery.

Celine and her husband René Angelil, who have a 9 year-old son together named René Charles, went through several fertility treatments to conceive the twins.

WMC-TV 5 out of Memphis is reporting that two female postal workers were killed this morning at the U.S. Post Office in Henning, Tennessee.

Henning is located in Lauderdale County with a population of around 1,000 people.  The small town is the resting place of the late Alex Haley who wrote Roots.  His grave lays next to his boyhood home in Henning.

It lies half-way in between Memphis and Jackson, Tennessee due north.

The killer(s) remain on the loose. The USPS has issued a $25,000 reward for any information that might lead to who did this heinous crime.

Talk show host Tyra Banks is being sued for $3 million by Beverly McClendon, the angry mother of a teen sex addict, a 15 year-old girl who reportedly appeared on the “Tyra Banks Show” without her permission.

The girl, who has not been diagnosed as a sex addict, answered to an online casting call for teen sex addicts on Tyra’s website. The show’s producers flew her all the way from Georgia to New York and installed her in a hotel without her mother’s knowledge and consent.

According to Beverly, the 2009 show “was undoubtedly watched by sexual deviants, perverts and pedophiles” and violated her daughter’s right to privacy. The teen girl was also paid for her appearance on the show, but they didn’t get permission from the labor commissioner to “employ” her.

Canadian teen superstar Justin Bieber was accused of assault by the father of a 12 year-old boy during an incident that happened at a laser tag match in Richmond, Canada on Friday night (October 15).

Barbara Billingsley — best known for her work as June Cleaver – passed away in her Santa Monica home Saturday morning after a battle with a long illness. She was 94.

The Leave it to Beaver star impacted many families as a T.V. mom, including her on-set son Jerry Mathers, who played the Beaver from 1957-1963.

Jerry said in a statement:

“Barbara was a patient advisor and teacher. She helped me along this challenging journey through life by showing me the importance of manners and respect for others,”

“She will be missed by all of her family, friends, fans and, most especially, by me.”

Tony Dow, who played the older Cleaver boy, Wally, also made a statement about the loss of Barbara Billingsley:

“She was as happy as a lark being recognized as America’s mom. She had a terrific life and had a wonderful impact on everybody she knew, and even people she didn’t know.”

Sad news for everyone who has ever felt a connection to this television family! June Cleaver will be missed.

T.J. Lavin, host of MTV‘s “The Challenge“, is showing signs of improvement after a nasty BMX crash in Vegas on Thursday.

T.J. was put into a medically induced coma after he slammed into the ramp, breaking his right wrist and several ribs. But his mother, Barbara, says that T.J. gave doctors a thumbs up on Saturday:

“Neuro came and spoke to T.J. He moved his hands around and he gave the docs a thumbs up. He is not conscious. He’s back on sedation to rest and minimize brain swelling.”

A spokesperson for the Dew Tour Championships — which T.J. was competing in when he crashed — said that T.J. was wearing a helmet.

Chris Aday, who is T.J.’s business partner, said that he believes T.J. was planning to retire after competing:

“He kept making comments like, ‘Well, this is my last one,’ “

Hopefully T.J. will make a full recovery and change his mind about retiring — rather than being forced into it.
