Professional surfer Andy Irons was found dead by a hotel employee at around 10 am in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday (November 2). The 32 year-old surfer’s his wife Lyndie Dupuis is about to give birth to their first child.
Andy, who won three surfing world titles, two Quicksilver Pro titles and two Rip Curl Pro titles, was planning to return to his home in Hawaii, but he had fallen ill and book a room to rest. According the family, the suffer was battling dengue fever.
Andy’s family released a statement saying, “[Andy] had reportedly been battling with dengue fever, a viral disease. At this time the family thanks his friends and fans for their support and asks that the community respect its privacy.”
