‘Teen Mom’ Amber Portwood Facing Felonies, Jail For Domestic Violence

Teen Mom‘s Amber Portwood is facing more than just celebrity status from her experience on the MTV reality series — she’s looking at one misdemeanor and 2 felony counts for domestic violence against her ex-boyfriend/ex-fiancee Gary Shirley.

Amber was seen punching and slapping Gary on multiple episodes in Season 2 of Teen Mom — more often than not in front of their toddler daughter, Leah.

According to TMZ, if Amber is convicted of everything she’s been charged, with the 20-year-old teen mother will face 3 years in jail and up to $10,000 in fines.

Sadly, many cases of domestic violence go undocumented every day, and what Amber did to Gary is absolutely wrong — but 3 years in jail is awfully harsh for someone who clearly battles depression.

My two cents: Amber needs some rehab and anger management classes. The worst thing they can do to the already rattled family is separate Amber from Leah for three years, especially when their daughter is so young, still developing and needs her mother.

Anger management? Nah, Dr. Drew can’t fix this one. Give her jail time. If not three years, then at least three months or three weeks. Not only because of the egregious nature of repeatedly pummeling her fiancee(on camera) in front of a toddler, but to send the message that the law doesn’t discriminate on the basis of sex. You think if her hulking future husband had punched, slapped and threatened her repeatedly on television we’d forgive and forget so easily? “Oh, he’s already suffered enough. Send him to rehab.” When a man attacks or intimidates a woman(Mel Gibson, Chris Brown) we all unify in our scorn and outrage, and rightfully so. That kind of behavior shouldn’t be tolerated. Well now it’s time to play fair. Lock her up.

Lock her up! If a Male hits a Female, on camera, he would be arrested without haste. Why is she not arrested? This whole fuss about equal rights amongst gender… lock her up.

I was watching this programme and I think that Amber is a terrible mother because she leaves her child in a locked room, crying because she can’t be bothered to sooth her to sleep. Then she blames Gary for the crying because he woke baby Leah up too early!!! :O

The last thing Leah needs is her mother… Seriously, why do we need more Ambers in the world?
