“California Gurls” singer Katy Perry has decided to officially change her name to Katy Brand, taking her husband Russell Brand’s last name after they tied the knot in a ceremony in India on October 23.

The 26 year-old newlywed confessed that she loves when people call her Mrs. Brand, so it’s only natural to formally adopt the nickname. Katy said, “Like if I’m at an event or something like that, and they want special attention, they go, ‘Mrs. Brand!’ And I go shwoosh [looks back].”

Katy is very possessive when it comes to her man and she does not like the close relationship Russell maintains with “Tempest” co-star, actress Helen Mirren. “She needs to step off my man,” Katy jokes – but then quickly reconsiders. “Actually, I kind of don’t mind that someone else takes some of the responsibility, because it’s a lot of work [being married to Brand]. … There’s never a dull moment.”
